RAIN CHANCES INCREASE THROUGH MIDWEEK
You can call Monday our transition day. It started off nice and clear, but after lunch time the clouds started to build and in came the rain.
Monday's rain was very scattered in nature. Tuesday and Wednesday; however, we will see the storms become more numerous.
There's two weather features that will impact our forecast. First is an interesting system off the coast of Louisiana. It's providing the north Gulf Coast states with high rainfall totals. Flood Watches are in effect for much of the southeast. All that rain will continue to spread across the Deep South. Including Florida. Next, a cold front is dropping from the north. It'll arrive by midday tomorrow and essentially stall in north Florida.
The front will help push the Louisana low pressure system to the east - brushing Florida. This will cause our winds to be from the southwest for the next 48 hours, and that spells an uptick in the rain department.
Coastal communities will see showers wash ashore early on both Tuesday and Wednesday. The beach rain quickly migrates inland after the noon hour. As the first line moves through, more will build in the Gulf and move over. It'll be a constant cycle with periods of rain and dry weather.
There will be a lot of clouds, too, and consequently we will se highs stay at 90 or below.
Temperatures don't hit 90 again until Friday when high pressure returns from the Atlantic. Our weather conditions will improve as early as Thursday, and we will see isolated thunderstorms each afternoon within the urban corridor.
There's nothing to worry about out in the tropics!

Crews and equipment just arrived about an hour ago. Workers have to dig up a layer of asphalt, repave a new layer, and then restripe it---this all happening during your commute home.
For reasons FHP can't explain, the driver of this dump truck had the bed of the truck up while driving through this intersection, leaving quite a mess behind hitting a traffic light--this sign-- and then the overpass--before flipping to its final resting spot. DOT inspected the overpass and determined it is structurally safe, but the sign had to be taken down. Even though the truck was towed, there was still a mess left behind. Diesel fuel spilled over five lanes--causing unsafe driving conditions.
Dave Parks, PIO for construction project "almost like northern conditions. So we've got to come in and actually tear up the old asphalt and put new, fresh asphalt down just for safety concern. Really it makes it a much smoother and safer driving consistency."
The construction project spokesperson says this crash shouldn't affect the project. But what is affected are those of you who have to drive through this area, and FHP is advising drivers to find an alternate route. It should be safe to drive on sometime later tonight. in fort myers kelly creswell ABC7.

S/ Lura Kirby / Saved Children:01 -:05

WE TOLD YOU LAST WEEK THAT SEPTEMBER IS A KEY MONTH FOR PENNY PINCHERS.

HERE'S BOB HANSEN.

A STEADY STREAM OF JETS TOOK OFF TODAY.
AND WHILE THE SKIES ARE FILLED WITH AIRLINE PASSENGERS. WHAT THEY PAID FOR THOSE FLIGHTS CAN BE VERY DIFFERENT.
"It changes all the time based on the needs of the airlines."
WELL RIGHT NOW IS OFTEN THE BEST TIME TO MAKE HOLIDAY TRAVEL PLANS FROM THANKSGIVING THROUGH THE NEW YEAR. MANY PEOPLE ARE NOT THINKING WINTER WEATHER AND HOLIDAY FEASTS IN SEPTEMBER. AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHY NOW IS THE TIME TO BOOK YOUR FLIGHT.
"I would say just research and when you find exactly what you are looking for, I would book it then, don't wait as fares will probably only increase."
AND THAT INCLUDES BRINGING HOME YOUR COLLEGE STUDENTS. MANY PARENTS JUST DROPPED OFF THEIR KIDS AND ARE NOT THINKING ABOUT BRINGING THEM HOME AGAIN. BUT IF YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY, NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE THOSE PLANS.
"We know when Thanksgiving and Christmas come up but see when their final breaks are. I'd get those dates nailed down and start looking into the air fare as soon as they can to make sure they are giving themselves a break."
"While september is certainly a good time to make travel plans for later in the year, what's the best day to buy your tickets? Some travel experts say Tuesday and Wednesday."
BUT WHAT DAY YOU BUY MAY NOT BE AS IMPORTANT AND HOW EARLY YOU BOOK YOUR FLIGHT. ESPECIALLY AS WE GET CLOSER TO THE BUSIEST TRAVEL SEASON OF THE YEAR.
"You're going to find there is less inventory out there to book, so another reason better yet to book ahead."
NOT ONLY CAN YOU FIND THE BEST DEALS YOU CAN ALSO BOOK THE BEST TIMES, THE NON-STOP FLIGHTS AND POSSIBLY AVOID THE MAJOR HUBS LIKE NEW YORK AND CHICAGO THAT OFTEN FACE WEATHER RELATED HOLIDAY DELAYS.
"But you don't want to wait too late because there are not going to be those great deals, last minute fares that a lot of people think sometimes they can find out there. But usually the more advance you book the better deal you're going to find."
AND THAT MEANS WHEN THE NEXT FLIGHT TAKES OFF. YOU MAY ALL BE SITTING IN THE SAME PLANE. BUT YOU GOT THE BEST PRICE.
