"A bit more sun, with afternoon downpours"

The plume of deep tropical moisture that sat across Southwest Florida over the last couple of days, continues to push away from the peninsula giving a slight improvement to our weather.

The airmass across the area remains warm and humid, therefore it will be a muggy to start to our Thursday morning. Our skies will be a bit sunnier along with mainly dry conditions and that will keep temperatures on warming trend into the upper 80s to low 90s during the afternoon.

Expect a mix of sun and clouds today, along with a scattering of downpours during the late afternoon and lingering into the evening hours. With our steering winds taking more of an easterly turn, the seabreeze will stay pinned closer to home with showers and storms more than likely favoring the urban corridor. The rain activity will not be as widespread as the last few days, in fact rain prospects will be down to about 50%.

A few showers will linger across Southwest Florida through the evening, before skies partially clear and lows settle back into the middle and upper 70s.

High pressure will dominate our weather pattern Friday and into the weekend, bringing more sunshine with our typical pattern of hit or miss afternoon thunderstorms. An uptick in the moisture Sunday will allow for more clouds and scattered rain ahead of an approaching cool front. This may bring the first hint of fall like weather by mid week with lower humidity in the forecast along with cooler nights.

In the tropics, Nadine is bringing tropical storm conditions to parts of the Azores and is expected to become a post tropical cyclone by the weekend. Tropical Depression #15 formed in the Atlantic yesterday and is expected to be a short lived. It will briefly become a tropical storm before it encounters some drier air and strong wind shear. CAMPAIGN 2012-OC

BOTH PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES ARE BACK OUT ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL TONIGHT AFTER THEIR

FIRST DEBATE.

THE PUNDITS VERDICT AT LEAST -- ROMNEY WON LAST NIGHT.

WHAT DID THE VOTERS THINK?

ABC'S T-J WINICK HAS THAT. Return to index of stories...

CAMPAIGN 2012-PKG

SEEN BY MANY POLITICAL ANALYSTS AND AVERAGE VOTERS AS THE WINNER OF LAST

NIGHT'S DEBATE, REPUBLICAN CHALLENGER MITT ROMNEY ECHOED HIS PERFORMANCE

THIS MORNING.

SOT MITT ROMNEY

We have two very different courses for America - trickle down- government or

prosperity through freedom. And trickle down government that the president

proposes is one where he will raise taxes on small business which will kill

jobs. I instead want to keep taxes down on small business so we can create

jobs.

It will be a few days before we'll know if Romney's strong debate

performance will translate to higher poll numbers, nationally and in the

battle ground states.

The reaction from the President's supporters.however.was immediate.

SOT RUSS KILLUM

I thought there was a lot that came out - facial expression, the President

was stunned

SOT JENNIFER BRANIFF , WORKS FOR WHOLE FOODS

Unfortunately, it felt like Romney came ahead last night and I don't want to

see that in the next two debates.

In his morning-after rally, the President accused Romney of doing an about-

face.

SOT POTUS

When I got onto the stage, I met this very spirited fellow who claimed to be

Mitt Romney.

Mr. Obama targeted what he said were the difference between the quote "real"

Mitt Romney's budget plan. and what his opponent said on stage last

night

SOT POTUS

The fact is, Governor Romney's math just doesn't add up. And I had to spend

a lot of time last night trying to pin it down.

STANDUP WINICK

In a brutally frank admission, the Obama campaign says they will make

strategic changes after the disappointing debate performance last night.

BAD SPA TREATMENT-PKG

INFORMATION FROM WPLG'S WEBSITE:

A woman says a botched procedure at a spa in Doral is to blame for her

swollen face that left her in the hospital for more than a month.

"I went hoping to be prettier and look how I turned out," said Isabel

Gonzalez, 48.

Since Gonzalez's visit to Viviana's Body Secrets Spa in June, she has spent

37 days in the hospital and undergone two surgeries.

Viviana Ayala, the owner of the spa, was charged last week. According to an

arrest report, Ayala injected Gonzalez's face with a substance that Ayala

said were vitamins.

Attorney Diana Santa Maria said Gonzalez still doesn't know what she had

injected into her face.

"She didn't provide that information, which seriously prolonged the

treatment and the damages and the injuries and the effects on her health,"

said Santa Maria.

"I went there and got two injections and I came out looking like this," said

Gonzalez.

Ayala has said Gonzalez only received facials at her spa.

Gonzalez has since filed a lawsuit against Ayala and the spa.

"The damages will be all her past medical bills, all her future medical

bills, her pain and suffering, for her lost capacity to enjoy life, for the

physical disfigurement," said Santa Maria.

The City of Doral shut down Viviana's Body Secrets Spa and revoked Ayala's

certificate of occupancy for conduct that is contrary to the public health. Return to index of stories...

MORE P.M. STORMS ON FRIDAY

Weather conditions tomorrow will be quiet in the morning and stormy in the afternoon. High pressure in the western Atlantic continues to bring easterly winds to our part of Florida. The afternoon sea breeze will kick in after 2:00 p.m. and our 'recipe' for storms will be in place. Today, the storms got going a bit early and this will lead to a mainly quiet evening. Tomorrow, we will have to see if the start time for storms delays past 5:00 p.m. Either way I would certainly plan on more afternoon rain for Friday and for the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday will be warm and humid and the afternoon thunderstorms will be kicking up each day. Expect high in the lower 90's and humid morning lows in the 70's.

An outlook into next week shows that the humidity may start to go down by Wednesday or Thursday next week. I don't see a real push of cooler weather - yet - but the lower humidity will feel pretty good. Again … wait until next week to look for any drop in humidity. Return to index of stories...
