"A bit more sun, with afternoon downpours"
The plume of deep tropical moisture that sat across Southwest Florida over the last couple of days, continues to push away from the peninsula giving a slight improvement to our weather.
The airmass across the area remains warm and humid, therefore it will be a muggy to start to our Thursday morning. Our skies will be a bit sunnier along with mainly dry conditions and that will keep temperatures on warming trend into the upper 80s to low 90s during the afternoon.
Expect a mix of sun and clouds today, along with a scattering of downpours during the late afternoon and lingering into the evening hours. With our steering winds taking more of an easterly turn, the seabreeze will stay pinned closer to home with showers and storms more than likely favoring the urban corridor. The rain activity will not be as widespread as the last few days, in fact rain prospects will be down to about 50%.
A few showers will linger across Southwest Florida through the evening, before skies partially clear and lows settle back into the middle and upper 70s.
High pressure will dominate our weather pattern Friday and into the weekend, bringing more sunshine with our typical pattern of hit or miss afternoon thunderstorms. An uptick in the moisture Sunday will allow for more clouds and scattered rain ahead of an approaching cool front. This may bring the first hint of fall like weather by mid week with lower humidity in the forecast along with cooler nights.
In the tropics, Nadine is bringing tropical storm conditions to parts of the Azores and is expected to become a post tropical cyclone by the weekend. Tropical Depression #15 formed in the Atlantic yesterday and is expected to be a short lived. It will briefly become a tropical storm before it encounters some drier air and strong wind shear.

SCRIPT:
NATS
THE FIRST PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE STARTED WITH A HAND SHAKE AND A SMILE BETWEEN
PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS REPUBLICAN CHALLENGER MITT ROMNEY
THEN IT QUICKLY FOCUSED ON THE ECONOMY
SOT OBAMA "5 million jobs have been created the auto industry is roaring
back, and housing has started to rise"
SOT ROMNEY "I know what it takes to get small business to grow to hire
people"
ROMNEY WAS AGGRESSIVE MOST OF THE NIGHT BUT HIS PAST COMMENTS ABOUT THE 47
PERCENT HAVE TAKEN A TOLL ON HIS CAMPAIGN.
THE PRESIDENT NEVER BROUGHT UP THOSE COMMENTS
AND ROMNEY TRIED TO MOVE PAST THEM
ROMNEY: under the president's policy middle income Americans have been
buried, they're just being crushed. / I will not under any circumstances
raise taxes on middle income families
THE PRESIDENT CHALLENGED HIS RIVAL, SAYING THAT ROMNEY CANNOT KEEP HIS GOAL
OF CUTTING TAXES AND *NOT* ADD TO THE DEFICIT WITHOUT HURTING THE MIDDLE
CLASS.
OBAMA: now 5 weeks before the election he's saying his bold idea is never
mind.
OTHER BIG TOPICS INCLUDED MEDICARE REFORM AND THE PRESIDENT'S HEALTH CARE
REFORM LAW.
AND WHILE THERE WASN'T A KNOCK OUT PUNCH FROM EITHER SIDE SOME FEEL THE
PRESIDENT MAY HAVE BEEN TOO RELAXED
BRAZILE "This time He seemed a little detached at times, didn't want to be
there"
MOST AGREE ROMNEY LEAD THE DEBATE AND AFTER LAGGING IN MANY POLLS THIS FIRST
MATCH-UP COULD GIVE HIM THE BOOST HE NEEDED.
SOT "Knowing he's behind and he needs to win and he fought that
fight. So, statistically, he put the President on the defensive a number of
times. "
THE CANDIDATES AREN'T WASTING ANY TIME - THEY'RE BACK OUT ON THE CAMPAIGN
TRAIL TODAY.
AND THE NEXT DEBATE - IS NEXT WEEK WHEN THE VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES GO
ONE-ON-ONE.

Return to index of stories...
THE POINT OF THIS DEBATE WAS TO MAKE DIFFERENCES CLEAR/i/b: ON LOWERING THE DEBT:
Presidential Nominee
"You said you'd cut the deficit in half. It's now four years later. We still have trillion-dollar deficits."
"The way we do it is $2.50 for every cut, we ask for $1 of additional revenue, paid for, as I indicated earlier, by asking those of us who have done very well in this country to contribute a little bit more to reduce the deficit."
THE PRESIDENT INSISTED ROMNEY WOULD SPEND FIVE TRILLION ON TAX BREAKS FAVORING THE WEALTHY:
"Math, common sense, and our history shows us that's not a recipe for job growth."
Presidential Nominee
"Everything he just said about my tax plan is inaccurate."
THEY CLASHED ON WALL STREET - WHETHER BANKS SHOULD BE TOO BIG TO FAIL - AND MEDICARE:
Presidential Nominee
"Cutting $716 billion from Medicare to be able to balance the additional cost of Obamacare is, in my opinion, a mistake."
"If you repeal Obamacare, and I have become fond of this term, "Obamacare," if you repeal it, what happens is those seniors right away are going to be paying $600 more in prescription care."
THE FIERCEST EXCHANGE - OVER HEALTH CARE, AND JOBS:
Presidential Nominee
"I just don't know how the President could have come into office, facing 23 million people out of work, rising unemployment, an economic crisis at the -- at the kitchen table, and spend his energy and passion for two years fighting for Obamacare instead of fighting for jobs for the American people."
"We did work on this, alongside working on jobs, because this is part of making sure that middle-class families are secure in this country."
PRESIDENT OBAMA, ON DEFENSE - ROMNEY. CHALLENGING HIS RECORD.
AS BOTH NOW WAIT TO SEE IF THIS EXCHANGE HAD ANY IMPACT ON VOTERS.

E FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
