WEATHER

Remember the cold front I talked about all weekend? Well it's still holding steady to our north, and it's pushing a long fetch moisture into southwest Florida.

That'll keep thunderstorms in the forecast for the rest of Monday, but after today. Dry weather will come! Briefly. Don't get your hopes up. Of course there's a price you pay when the rain leaves, too, the temperatures will warm up.

So here's how it all works out.

We'll see some afternoon storms ride up US Hwy 41 and I-75 this afternoon impacting our homeward bound commute. Be sure to keep the headlights on, the windshiled wipers working, and stay below the speed limit when encountering these storms.

I expect them to clear out after 8 PM.

Tomorrow, the front I mentioned will fade away. That's when the changes occur because drier air from our north will begin spilling down. Return to index of stories...

AT FIRST GLANCE, JEROME AVENUE IN PORT CHARLOTTE LOOKS LIKE ANY OTHER STREET.

BUT PEOPLE WHO LIVE THERE SAY IT WAS FAR FROM ORDINARY SATURDAY NIGHT.

DEPUTIES SAY -- AFTER AN ARGUMENT -- 53-YEAR-OLD CARL MARTIN, RAN OVER HIS NEIGHBOR WITH THIS GOLF CART.

WE DON'T KNOW WHAT MARK GADOMSKI AND MARTIN WERE YELLING ABOUT, BUT REPORTS SAY IT ENDED WITH GADOMSKI COVERED IN SCRATCHES AND HIS WIFE CALLING FOR HELP.

"She called the sheriff's office to report her husband had been run over by a golf cart. Kind of an unusual story." Robert Carpenter, Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.

Standup: Arrest records say the victim was crossing the street going to his neighbors house when Martin was driving his golf cart down the road. The victim didn't think Martin would actually hit him, so he stopped. He didn't have time to move out of the way and was hit by the golf cart. Martin tells us, off camera, a different story. He says the victim stepped in front of him as he was driving by."

"two witnesses came forward, neighbors out there, and corroborated the victim's story exactly, the wording, the threat to do it and it was carried out." Robert Carpenter, Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.

ROBERT CARPENTER, WITH CHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, SAYS DRIVING GOLF CARTS IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD IS ILLEGAL.

"People think they can go on the street with theses type of vehicles, and that's not the case. They must be licensed and they are not licensed to bring out on the street." Robert Carpenter, Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.

MARTIN POSTED BOND AND HIS GOLF CART IS SITTING IN THE BACKYARD. HE'S CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED BATTERY, RESISTING ARREST AND…

"In fact, he didn't even have a valid license, so we arrested him for driving while license suspended or revoked." Robert Carpenter, Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.

Tomorrow, the front I mentioned will fade away. That's when the changes occur because drier air from our north will begin spilling down.

This dry air does three things for us:

1. Sunny skies

2. Rain free weather

3. Hotter temperatures

Thankfully the humidity levels will be lower so it won't feel as oppressive outside! Highs will range up 3 to 5 degrees above the norm.

On the flip side dry air likes to cool down during the overnight hours, so we'll see overnight temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s.

This will last until Saturday. Clouds begin to increase that day and we will see just isolated storms. Those storms will become more scattered on Sunday. Return to index of stories...
