Nat of Cheers when capsule was released
It took that capsule with the daredevil known as Fearless Felix aboard two
and a half hours to reach the edge of space.
Nat
Dangling from a 55-story balloon -the 43 year old Austrian peacefully
soared 24 miles above the New Mexico desert---four times higher than most
passenger jets fly.
On the way up. He hears a single voice 84 year old Joe Kittinger
Quick Nat: ok here we go Felix
,/ the only other man who knows what it's like to free fall from more than
100 thousand feet.
135748 JK: "it gets full serious "
With Felix at 128 thousand feet above planet Earth, it's Kittinger who tells
him it's time to open the capsule door.
14:03:10 JK: there it is.the world is out there.
14:03:44
Suddenly Felix's legs are hanging out.
JK: Felix, release your seatbelt.
Felix is slow to respond to some commands. Kittinger is worried. The lack
of pressure may be affecting him.
14:05:08 JK: Do you read me Felix on the communication?
14:05:32 14:05:57
Finally a thumbs up. He disconnects himself from the capsule and put his
hands on the railing.
14:06:15 JK: Our guardian angel will take care of you.
With that, Felix dove.
At first there's silence. Then heavy breathing. The first sign he's even
still alive.
He's plummeting so fast, he's barely a spec on this infrared camera.
FOR 35 secs of the fall, Felix is spinning out of control. Something his
team feared could cause him to lose consciousness.. Then suddenly a
sound.
14:08:30 FB:
FOR A TERROR-INDUCING FOUR MINUTES AND 20 SECONDS HE FREE-FALLS. HIS BODY
PLUMMETING TOWARD THE EARTH AT 833 MILES AN HOUR. BREAKING THE SPEED OF
SOUND. Something no one has ever done without a jet or rocket.
RO: when you were in that what looked like to me a death spin you must have
been afraid?
FB: I was, if you are in that situation and it spins you around like hell,
and you do not know if you can get out of that spin or not, of course that
is terrifying but I was frightened all the way down
14:11:12
Felix finally managed to regain control and deploy his parachute/ he
somehow managed to land on his feet.
14:15:57 VOICE: "And Felix is back to Earth. The new world record holder!."

Mission accomplished.

WEATHER IS COMING UP.
Sunshine will be prevalent through our Monday, but enough moisture will still be around to spark a few hit or miss afternoon showers. The chance of getting hit by a shower today will be close to 30%, and the rain that manages to develop will stay pretty isolated and widely spaced.
Despite the rain chance today, most of us will enjoy warm sunshine and clear skies through the morning and then a mix of sun and clouds during the afternoon. Temperatures will start in the low 70s and warm into the upper 80s through the second half of the day.
Winds won't be as blustery as the last couple days. The wind direction will still be predominantly out of the northeast, but wind speeds should stay between 5-10 mph instead of gusting up to 20-25 mph like Saturday and Sunday.
By Tuesday we expect to get another little dose of dry air, which will work to keep our weather dry and fairly pleasant. We'll notice a slight dip in humidity, too, which will make the air feel a little more comfortable. We may even see a few spots cooling off into the upper 60s Wednesday and Thursday morning, but it's doubtful these 60s will be as widespread as what we had last week.
The next little wrinkle to mention in the forecast for Wednesday is the potential for a little more cloud cover and some light scattered showers in association with a little weather system that will swing in from the west. Our rain chance shouldn't be too high, but we'll likely be tracking a few showers through the day. Another side effect of this system will be slightly lower temperatures as highs only warm into the mid 80s.
It looks like we'll have to keep the rain chance in our forecast from Thursday through the weekend as a cool front attempts to slowly move down the peninsula. There's still some uncertainty in terms of how far south the front will be able to advance. If the front stalls out over us and loses steam, a noticeable cool down and drop in humidity won't be as likely. We'll just have to keep tracking this front through the week and keep tweaking the forecast accordingly.

AS FLU SEASON GETS UNDERWAY,

TO GUARD AGAINST FLU, A GROWING NUMBER OF KIDS ARE GETTING A SQUIRT. INSTEAD OF A SHOT.
"We do now have a nasal mist spray that can be used and that form is routinely recommended, or can be given to any child two years of age and older, who is otherwise healthy."
IF YOUR CHILD IS UNDER TWO, HAS A WEAKENED IMMUNE SYSTEM OR SUFFERS FROM WHEEZING, THEY'LL NEED THE REGULAR SHOT.
SOME KIDS WITH EGG ALLERGIES CAN BE SAFELY VACCINATED, BUT TALK TO YOUR PEDIATRICIAN ABOUT EXTRA PRECAUTIONS FIRST.
FLU SHOTS ARE *NOT* APPROVED FOR BABIES UNDER SIX MONTHS, SO IT'S ESPECIALLY CRITICAL FOR PREGNANT WOMEN TO BE VACCINATED.
"Not only are women more vulnerable to influenza complications during pregnancy, but their babies may be affected by the flu."
FLU MIST IS *NOT* AN OPTION IF YOU'RE PREGNANT, BUT THE REGULAR SHOT IS SAFE TO GET ANY TIME DURING PREGNANCY, DURING ANY TRIMESTER.
"We know that pregnant women who get vaccinated for the flu have healthier babies. They also pass on their antibodies to the newborn in the first 6 months of life."
HAVING PEOPLE AROUND THE BABY VACCINATED ALSO HELPS.
THAT'S CALLED "COCOONING."

EXPERTS SAY THE FLU SHOT IS ALSO CRITICAL -- FOR PEOPLE WITH CHRONIC MEDICAL PROBLEMS, ANYONE AGE 65 AND OLDER,
