"Thursday will bring more sunshine and drier weather"
Our Wednesday was filled with more clouds than sunshine, which kept temperatures slightly cooler today in the middle 80s. Some changes will be in the forecast for our Thursday as the clouds move out and the sunshine moves back in.
For the rest of our Wednesday, clouds will continue to thicken up across Southwest Florida with a few scattered downpours mainly east of I75. The rain will certainly not be widespread, and most of the activity should diminish as we head past sunset. Tonight, clouds will linger across Southwest Florida with a couple of leftover showers as lows settle into the lower 70s by morning.
Our Thursday, will start off with a few patchy clouds, but will offer more sunshine through the day as the clouds and moisture exit to our east and our atmosphere begins to dry out a bit. Mostly sunny skies will dominate with a mainly dry weather pattern with highs closing in on the upper 80s. Partly sunny skies will continue through our Friday, but with just enough moisture an isolated shower or two can't be ruled out during the afternoon and early evening hours.
The remnants of a weak front will wash out across Southwest Florida on Saturday continuing the chance for a couple of showers and storms. High pressure building in across the southeast and mid Atlantic states will be in control of our weather through the early part of the week, with mostly to partly sunny skies and temperatures in the middle to upper 80s as rain prospects remain next to none.
In the tropics, all is quiet for now with the exception of Hurricane Rafael. Rafael will be heading toward the north Atlantic through this evening and should become an extratropical cyclone later this evening and into tomorrow.

In about 24 hours from now, the gates will open here at the lee county sports complex for people coming to hear republican vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan. You can see behind me here on the soccer field, the stage is set and the campaign hopes this grass will be full of supporters.

Ringing phones and constant chatter fills the victory office in lee county. It's been busy all day with people coming in to get tickets to have the chance to see Paul Ryan speak During his first visit as a republican hopeful in fort Myers. Tickets are unlimited--and free--and it will be standing room only at the lee county sports complex. Organizers say it will be much like airport security--limit your personal items--big bags umbrellas and water are not allowed. And people with the Romney--Ryan camp are still working on speakers, but we've learned Fort Myers Mayor Randy Henderson will speak and attorney General Pam Bondi will introduce Ryan---all building excitement for tomorrow's big event.

We've learned a portion of plantation road will be closed to traffic and pedestrians tomorrow from six mile charter academy to six mile cypress starting at 5pm and will remain closed until the event is over. For folks going to the event, you have to use the main entrance on six mile cypress, the plantation entrance will be closed for security reasons.
You can still get tickets to the event either by going to the victory offices in lee and collier county or go online. Her mother has just one request, for the city to install a barrier at this curve - preventing anyone else from driving into the canal.
Surrounded by a room full of family and friends, kristie hilbert makes a public plea to city leaders.

Today may have marked the final fall from grace for Lance Armstrong.
The disgraced cyclist announced this morning that he's stepping down as
chairman of his cancer-fighting charity, Livestrong. And right on the heels
of that, his biggest and long-time corporate supporter, Nike, said they were
severing their endorsement deal with him.
Nike had previously said it was standing by Armstrong because he had
fiercely maintained his innocence.
In a statement, Nike President Phil Knight said, "Due to the seemingly
insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and
misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have
terminated our contract with him."
At Nike's world headquarters, the disgraced cyclist's name will be removed
from the Fitness Center.
Nike had faced enormous pressure to drop Armstrong. In Portland yesterday,
demonstrators took to the streets.
NOT ONLY TOOK DRUGS TO GET THE RESULTS THEY WANTED IN THE SPORT, THEY MADE
SOMEONE ELSE OTHE RPEOPLE TAKE THOSE DRUGS WITHIN THE TEAM.
In August, The US Anti Doping Agency banned Armstrong for life and "
disqualified of all competitive results" going back 12 years, a move
that's expected to ultimately strip Armstrong of his 7 titles Tour de France
titles and his sole Olympic bronze.

"Thursday will bring more sunshine and drier weather"
Our Wednesday was filled with more clouds than sunshine, which kept temperatures slightly cooler today in the middle 80s. Some changes will be in the forecast for our Thursday as the clouds move out and the sunshine moves back in.
For the rest of our Wednesday, clouds will continue to thicken up across Southwest Florida with a few scattered downpours mainly east of I75. The rain will certainly not be widespread, and most of the activity should diminish as we head past sunset. Tonight, clouds will linger across Southwest Florida with a couple of leftover showers as lows settle into the lower 70s by morning.
Our Thursday, will start off with a few patchy clouds, but will offer more sunshine through the day as the clouds and moisture exit to our east and our atmosphere begins to dry out a bit. Mostly sunny skies will dominate with a mainly dry weather pattern with highs closing in on the upper 80s. Partly sunny skies will continue through our Friday, but with just enough moisture an isolated shower or two can't be ruled out during the afternoon and early evening hours.
The remnants of a weak front will wash out across Southwest Florida on Saturday continuing the chance for a couple of showers and storms. High pressure building in across the southeast and mid Atlantic states will be in control of our weather through the early part of the week, with mostly to partly sunny skies and temperatures in the middle to upper 80s as rain prospects remain next to none.
In the tropics, all is quiet for now with the exception of Hurricane Rafael. Rafael will be heading toward the north Atlantic through this evening and should become an extratropical cyclone later this evening and into tomorrow.
