The traffic on Daniels pkwy eastbound sometimes crawls, but mostly is a parking lot.
Take sound
"it's a good thing we didn't have anything to do. No plane to catch, just trying to get back to Sarasota."
Crews trying to fix this overpass have a lot to do. There are several damaged beams under the i75 overpass. A Lehigh acres man was driving eastbound Tuesday afternoon when the arm of a backhoe that was sitting on a trailer struck the bridge several times-causing this damage--and ultimately this traffic.
Take sound
"it's bad."
While FDOT says the overpass is structurally sound, lanes need to be closed in the affected areas so crews can repair the damaged beams. And the estimated time--a few weeks.

"december? Oh my god, I guess I'll have to leave earlier."
FDOT Spokesperson Debbie tower says drivers need to expect lane closures and shifts over the next month on both daniels parkway and i75 as work continues.
Take sound
Debbie Tower, FDOT Spokesperson
"the nature of the work involving both structures kind if extends the timeline, we also have to order some beams, that takes a bit if time and just simply mobilizing and getting the work done, and we have to manage traffic."
Drivers also need to use caution, safety, and most importantly---patience.

Debbie
"no one likes lane closures or traffic. This is an experience that we're all in together let's not complicate it, be safe and go slow."
