NORMAL LIFE HAS NEARLY GROUND TO A HALT IN GAZA.
ROCKETS CONTINUE TO RAIN DOWN ON THE PALESTINIAN TERRITORY.
--NATS OF EXPLOSIONS--
THE EXCHANGE OF ROCKET FIRE BETWEEN ISRAEL AND HAMAS IS NOW IN ITS SEVENTH DAY.
ON DAY SIX. HAMAS FIRED OVER 67 ROCKETS INTO ISRAEL. WHILE ISRAEL ATTACKED 80 TARGETS IN GAZA.
"We are witnessing a deliberate escalation on the part of the Israelis to cause as much possible of civilian deaths."
BUT ISRAEL DENIES THAT CHARGE.
"No, of course, we're not targeting civilians./butt to/.we're sending out tens of thousands of telephone messages, text messages, we're dropping tens of thousands of leaflets warning civilians in areas that are liable to be hit by our military to evacuate."
THOUSANDS OF ISRAELI TROOPS WITH TANKS ARE POISED AT GAZA'S BORDERS, AWAITING ORDERS FOR A POSSIBLE GROUND INVASION.
BUT THE HOPE IS THE CONFLICT DOESN'T REACH THAT POINT.
"Israel has done a significant amount of to the capacity of Hamas and to their capability to launch rocket attacks. But in the end there's got to be a cease fire. I mean, that's the key."
A PEACE EFFORT IS UNDER WAY TO STOP THE VIOLENCE.
EGYPT HAS BEEN WORKING TO RE-INSTATE A CEASE-FIRE.
AND ARAB LEAGUE FOREIGN MINISTERS ARE VISITING GAZA TODAY.
BUT ISRAEL SAYS ANY CEASE FIRE THAT IS AGREED TO MUST BE PERMANENT.
"There's no doubt that Hamas would agree to an immediate cease fire but it wouldn't mean anything 'cause we'd have rockets on Israeli cities again next week or the week after. We want to know that when this is over that it's really over."
I'M ANDREW SPENCER REPORTING.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
A canopy of low clouds will make for a pretty cloudy start to our Tuesday morning, but these clouds should begin to break up some by midday and through the afternoon.
While the clouds stick around this morning, temperatures will be quite cool and slow to rise. Temperatures should hover around the mid to upper 50s through the first half of the morning before gradually climbing into the mid to upper 60s by midday.
Once the clouds break up this afternoon and sunshine starts mixing in, we'll start to warm up pretty quickly with daytime highs projected to reach the mid to upper 70s.
We'll keep a few patchy clouds in the forecast tonight, but we shouldn't be nearly as cloudy as last night. Meanwhile, temperatures will be on the cool side yet again as lows drop into the mid to upper 50s.
Wednesday will be another transition day across Southwest Florida as another cool, dry air mass begins to settle in. As this next batch of cool air starts to push our way, some clouds will likely stream overhead, making for a partly cloudy day. A strong northerly wind will also develop through the day with gusts probably getting as high as 20 mph. Overall, Wednesday should be a pretty comfortable day with highs in the mid to upper 70s; just prepare for a breezy day with a few clouds mixing in at times.
Once our reinforcing shot of cool air arrives Wednesday night, the stage will be set for a pretty refreshing and delightful Thanksgiving Day. It will be one of those days when you open the windows and take in the cool fresh air. Daytime temperatures should only reach the mid 70s, and humidity levels will also be very low.
You may want to close the windows Thursday and Friday morning, however, because temperatures will be a little on the chilly side at night and early in the morning. Temperatures on Thanksgiving morning will start out in the low to mid 50s, and temperatures early Friday will be a few notches cooler as many places get down to the low 50s and upper 40s.
Black Friday is look bright and sunny. Daytimes highs will reach the mid 70s, and we won't have to deal with any rain.
The beautiful weather will even carry over into the upcoming weekend. Daytime highs Saturday and Sunday should reach the upper 70s, and for the most part, we'll enjoy sunny, blue skies.

ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN FARM BUREAU FEDERATION, THE AVERAGE COST OF A THANKSGIVING DINNER FOR TEN, WITH TURKEY AND THE TRADITIONAL SIDES, IS 49 DOLLARS AND 48 CENTS THIS YEAR, UP 28 CENTS.
The value of that market basket is up about half-a-percent, so not very much actually.
THE BULK OF THE BILL, SAYS DEPUTY CHIEF ECONOMIST JOHN ANDERSON, IS THE TURKEY, UP THREE PERCENT TO 22 DOLLARS AND 23 CENTS.
Turkey competes with chicken and pork and beef and other products. Turkey production itself is actually a little higher this year so it's not an issue of turkey not being available, it's just that the meat prices overall have gone up.
THIS SUMMER'S DROUGHT DIDN'T HAVE MUCH OF AN IMPACT ON THANKSGIVING PRICES. LAGS IN FOOD PRODUCTION MAKE IT A LITTLE TOO SOON.
OTHER ITEMS WITH AN UPTICK IN PRICE, THOSE MISCELLANEOUS INGREDIENTS LIKE ONIONS, EGGS, SUGAR, FLOUR AND BUTTER UP EIGHT CENTS. AND DINNER ROLLS UP THREE CENTS.
