A plea of no contest ends a six month saga for wallace weatherholt. After losing his hand to a 9 foot alligator back in june, fwc filed charges against him for illegally feeding the reptile during an airboat tour.
Today we got a better look at his injuries-- doctors weren't able to re-attach his left hand and part of his arm.
Tourist testimony and a picture snapped during the incident was evidence fwc says they had to prove weatherholt was feeding and taunting the gator during the accident.
His no contest plea means a jury trial wont happen-- and the evidence won't be seen or heard in a courtroom.

"Beautiful Thanksgiving weather"
We are wrapping up a beautiful Wednesday and our weather couldn't be better for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
For the balance of our afternoon, expect our mostly sunny skies to continue with temperatures in the mid 70s. A few patchy clouds may mix in with our late day sunshine, as a lazy front works its way down the peninsula through the evening hours. This will open the gates for a nice and refreshing airmass to settle down across our part of the state just in time for Thanksgiving.
Tonight, clear skies will prevail and temperatures will be on the chilly side as most of us will wake up on our Thanksgiving morning with lows in the lower 50s along the urban corridor with middle to upper 40s across our inland and northern cold spots.
Thursday is shaping up beautifully with bright sunshine and comfortable weather. Temperatures will gradually warm into the lower to middle 70s during the day with a delightful breeze out of the north between 5 and 15 mph. Cool and dry high pressure will remain in control of our weather through the holiday weekend keeping our skies mostly sunny and a dry pattern in place.
On Saturday, a reinforcing shot of cool and dry air will keep our pleasant weather in place through the weekend and into early next week. Expect temperatures to remain below normal for this time of year with cooler nights and mild afternoons.
Early next week, temperatures will begin to moderate as daytime highs reach the lower 80s with lows back in the 60s.
Happy Thanksgiving!

BUT NEEDED HIS TEAMMATES TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Return to index of stories...
Grinnell College sophomore basketball player Jack Taylor entered last night'
s game just hoping to make up for recent poor performances
TAYLOR I had shot poorly over the past two games and so coming into this
game I was really motivated trying to get going offensively and my teammates
made efforts to get me the ball and to get my confidence up
And make up for it he did - by scoring an astronomical one hundred and
thirty-eight points for the Division 3 Pioneers - and in the process
obliterating an NCAA single game scoring record that has stood unbeaten for
an unbelievable fifty-eight years.
Record books being rewritten as the five foot ten, one hundred seventy pound
guard drained shot after shot after shot.
TAYLOR: I had a stretch where I hit about 7 consecutive threes and that
really kind of opened my eyes up to this, this is going to be special.
But it wasn't just Taylor himself who saw that history was in the making.
His team rallied around him selflessly in a show of support.
TAYLOR: At halftime when I had 58 they wanted to get me the ball in the 2nd
half and see if I could keep it going and so I'm lucky to have the
teammates that I have they were very unselfish tonight.
Taylor averaged an unheard of 4 points per minute in the second half.
And he isn't under any illusions that his performance last night will go
unnoticed by future opponents
TAYLOR I think I'm going to be a marked man for a while- that's for sure.

AN A-B-C 7 HEALTH ALERT --
MAMMOGRAMS MAY NOT BE LOWERING THE DEATH RATE FROM BREAST CANCER AS MUCH AS PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT.
RESEARCHERS AT OREGON HEALTH AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY LOOKED AT BREAST CANCER CASES DIAGNOSED BETWEEN 1976 AND 2008.
THEY FOUND MORE THAN A MILLION WOMEN HAVE BEEN *OVERDIAGNOSED* WITH BREAST CANCER THE PAST THIRTY YEARS.
THAT MEANS THEY COULD LIVED WITH THE DISEASE WITHOUT A RISK OF DEATH.

YOU BOUGHT THE TURKEY -- NOW WHAT IN THE WORLD DO YOU DO WITH IT?
THE U-S-D-A'S TURKEY HOTLINE CAN HELP YOUR TURKEY *SAFELY* TO THE TABLE ON THANKSGIVING.
ERIKA EDWARDS REPORTS.

THIS IS YOUR VISION.
THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE NOW.
GETTING A PICTURE-PERFECT THANKSGIVING DINNER ON THE TABLE CAN BE DICEY.
"Butterball turkey talk line, can I help you?"
THE EXPERTS HAVE SEEN AND HEARD IT ALL.
"A college student who was trying to defrost their turkey quickly, so he put it in the dryer."
DIANE VAN IS A FOOD SAFETY EXPERT AT THE U-S-D-A. SHE SAYS THAT IF YOU'VE WAITED UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO GET A TURKEY -- FRESH IS BEST.
UNLESS YOU PLAN ON BOWLING WITH YOUR TURKEY -- FROZEN BIRDS MAY NOT BE THAWED IN TIME FOR THANKSGIVING DINNER.
"You're going to have to defrost it in cold water, and it takes about 30 minutes for every pound of turkey."
TO AVOID CROSS-CONTAMINATION WHEN WRANGLING WITH A RAW TURKEY -- KEEP MEATS SEPARATED FROM OTHER FOOD. THE POINT IS ILLUSTRATED IN THIS LIGHT-HEARTED PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE U-S-D-A AND OTHER AGENCIES.
THE POP-UP TIMER CAN BE A GOOD INDICATION THE BIRD IS READY. BUT A MEAT THERMOMETER IS THE BEST WAY TO MAKE SURE YOUR TURKEY IS COOKED COMPLETELY -- AND IT MUST READ 165 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT.
"Check it in the thigh down between the leg and the breast in that deep crevice. Check it in the wing joint and in the thickest part of the breast."
ONE LAST SAFETY TIP -- EXPERTS RECOMMEND GETTING LEFTOVERS IN THE FRIDGE WITHIN 2 HOURS. THAT WILL AVOID BACTERIA GROWTH.
