FORECAST-PHC

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

After some sunshine today, the clouds certainly thickened up throughout the afternoon limiting our temperatures to the upper 70s. Through the evening hours, expect mostly cloudy skies to stick around along with the possibility of a stray shower or two as temperatures settle into the lower 70s.

Overnight, the vast majority of us will stay fairly dry under mostly cloudy skies with an isolated shower at best. Lows will settle into the lower 60s here in town, with a few upper 50s deeper inland and across our northern cool spots.

High pressure that has controlled our weather over the last several days continues to break down as a cold front pushes across the deep south. By tomorrow morning, a weak upper level disturbance will make its way across the peninsula and may produce a few widely scattered showers. Rain prospects will remain about 30%, so not everyone will see the rain as most of these will be the hit or miss type.

Once this disturbance exits to the east late Thursday, conditions will begin to dry out a bit for the end of the week with more sunshine and highs remaining in the lower 80s.

Heading into the weekend, we'll keep partly sunny skies in the forecast with the chance of a couple of isolated showers. By early next week, we'll be tracking another cold front moving down the state, which will bring an increase in the cloud cover and perhaps another boost in our rain chances.

Even though our rain prospects will stay slightly higher than normal, our weather pattern will stay fairly consistent with our temperatures staying a few points above the average with partly sunny skies. Return to index of stories...

She's the innocent baby girl trapped in a bitter custody battle

On one side, the girl's biological father

On the other - her adoptive parents.

Terry Ay-Chan is a staff sergeant in the U.S. army

Two years ago, while he was stationed in South Carolina,

His ex-wife, Tira Bland, was giving birth in Utah.

Ay-Chan says he had no clue - he was never told he was going to be a father

- OR - that his baby girl had been put up for adoption.

SOT - Mark Wiser/ TERRY ACHANE'S ATTORNEY -

"She has a right to be able to be with her father. And that was taken away."

A-Chan's attorney says his ex-wife intentionally gave the adoption agency

the wrong contact information

Meaning they could never reach him for his consent.

SOT: Dan Abrams, ABC News Legal Expert

"They knew, the adoption agency knew, it was doing the adoption without his

consent or permission or knowledge. And warned the adoptive family about

that, saying we might have a problem down the line."

That problem is now playing out in court.

A judge has ordered the girl's adoptive parents, Jared and Kristi Frei, to

give the child back to Ay-Chan within 60 days

But they aren't giving in, their lawyers telling ABC News in a statement:

"THEY BELIEVE THE DISTRICT COURT MADE SOME FUNDAMENTAL ERRORS IN ITS

DECISION AND THEY WILL RAISE THOSE WITH THE APPROPRIATE APPELLATE COURT."

SOT: Dan Abrams, ABC News Legal Expert

"This is a really sad case all around. It's possible that every single

person involved in this case was trying to do what's in the best interest of

the child."

As for that child, the little girl caught in the middle of all this,

She'll be turning two years old in March

At this point, it's still not clear if she'll be spending that birthday with

the only family she's ever known, or the father, who never knew she existed

A GRUESOME NEW YORK SUBWAY DEATH IS STIRRING UP MORE AND MORE CONTROVERSY.

A NEWSPAPER PHOTO SHOWING THE VICTIM JUST AFTER HE WAS PUSHED ONTO THE TRACKS, AND MOMENTS BEFORE THE SUBWAY TRAIN KILLED HIM IS RAISING ETHICAL QUESTIONS TONIGHT.

ABC'S MUHAMMAD LILA TELLS US WHY. Return to index of stories...

NYC SUBWAY PHOTO-PKG

IT'S THE FRONT PAGE PHOTO CAUSING A STORM OF CONTROVERSY.

Take a look at the New York Post cover

On the bottom right - that's a 58-year old Ki-Suk Han - terrified,

desperately scrambling to get back up to the platform.

The headline tells you all you need to know about what happens next.

Quick soundup: NATS of surveillance tape

Two guys arguing

Moments earlier, this New York City subway surveillance video shows how it

all happened.

Han and another man are seen arguing before the suspect pushes the victim

onto the tracks.

SOT: Patrick Gomez, witness

I saw some people running out, some people just staying still. It was more

confusion than anything.

Watching it all happen - freelance photographer Umar Abbasi

Rather than help, he snapped nearly fifty photos on his camera

He told NBC's Today Show it was HIS way of trying to get the subway

motorman's attention.

SOT

"It took me a second to figure out what was happening. I saw the lights

in the distance of the approaching train.all I could think of at that time

was to alert the driver with my camera flash,"

That flash didn't get the motorman to stop

And today, many say the Post went too far putting such a graphic image on

its front page.

Twitter is full of accusations, calling the decisions "horrifying" "

despicable" and "Imagine how this man's family feels."

Muhammad Lila Standup Close:

"We spoke to the PR company that represents the NY Post, but, so far, no

statement has been issued.

As for the suspect, he has now been arrested and charged.

REWIRE YOUR BRAIN FOR LOVE-PKG

BILLS, WORK, KIDS, SEX, ALONE-TIME, TOGETHER-TIME. THERE'S A LOT THAT GOES INTO RELATIONSHIPS.

BUT WHAT IF IT ALL STARTS HERE?

NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST MARSHA LUCAS SAYS YOU CAN "RE-WIRE" YOUR BRAIN FOR LOVE SIMPLY BY MEDITATING.

"This is about changing your brain in ways that serve you."

TINA AND KEITH LANZONI KNOW THAT FIRSTHAND. IT'S BEEN 22 YEARS SINCE THEY MET. TODAY, THEY'RE HAPPILY MARRIED, BUT THEY ARE VERY DIFFERENT.

"He's a stock broker; I'm a yoga teacher."

"We're such completely opposite people."

TINA SAYS DAILY MEDITATION HAS HELPED KEEP THEIR MARRIAGE STRONG.

"It kind of diffuses the stress."

DOCTOR LUCAS SAYS IT ALSO HELPS BUILD NEW NERVE CELLS. SHE RECOMMENDS "MINDFULNESS MEDITATION." FOR EXAMPLE, YOU FOCUS ON YOUR BREATH. IF YOUR MIND WANDERS, YOU GENTLY BRING IT BACK. LUCAS SAYS THE ACT OF RE-FOCUSING YOUR THOUGHTS IS LIKE EXERCISE FOR THE BRAIN. IT'S WHAT CHANGES CONNECTIONS.

"Your brain responds by building those new pathways."

THOSE BRAIN CHANGES ALTER THE WAY YOU RESPOND TO YOUR PARTNER. ONE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA STUDY FOUND COUPLES WHO PRACTICED MINDFULNESS MEDITATION FOR EIGHT WEEKS COULD BOOST THEIR SATISFACTION WITH EACH OTHER BY ABOUT 50-PERCENT.

"You're doing do-it-yourself brain surgery without all the mess."

TINA AND KEITH ARE BELIEVERS.

"I'm not very reactive anymore." "Yeah."

A SIMPLE EXERCISE THAT'S MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE FOR THIS COUPLE. Return to index of stories...

"Really, really sad stuff to see before Christmas."

B-B KING'S DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS -- CURTIS PEERY -- STILL CAN'T SHAKE WHAT HE SAW SATURDAY MORNING.

WHEN A MOTHER AND HER LIVE IN BOYFRIEND ARE ACCUSED OF ABANDONING TWO YOUNG BOYS.

"Never, never seen anything like that, you know, if there's any children out there, you know, usually they're accompanied by their parents."

POLICE SAY AMANDA MARSH, 28, AND BOYFRIEND PERRY BUESKING, 46, WERE INTOXICATED ENOUGH THEY WERE ASKED TO LEAVE THE RESTAURANT.

PEERY SAYS A CAB WAS CALLED AND AFTER THE COUPLE LEFT.

MARSH'S CHILDREN CAME BACK ASKING WHERE THEY WERE.

"At that time, we had realized that the parents had sent the two kids to the movie theater by themselves with no supervision, left before they got out of the movies and the poor kids came back over here looking for their parents. and their parents were gone."

AN EMPLOYEE LOCATED THE PAIR IN A PARKING GARAGE WHERE MARSH ALLEGEDLY SAID "NO" AND AGAIN, "SHOOK HER HEAD INDICATING NO" WHEN ASKED IF THE KIDS, SEVEN AND 10 YEARS OLD, WERE HERS.

"The older little boy knew what was going on, he was crying, the younger one didn't really know what was going on."

"Very good of BB Kings. Obviously, they're training their employees and looking out for clues and people might be intoxicated and shouldn't have any more alcohol and, then, after that they did notice that they left their kids there. So, they're quite aware of their surroundings."

POLICE SAY BUESKING TRIED TO WALK AWAY DURING THE ARREST AND MARSH WAS COMBATIVE AND SWORE AT OFFICERS WHEN ASKED IF SHE KNEW WHERE HER CHILDREN WERE.

"Parents denying their children, I have two kids myself and I could never do anything like that, so."

Reporter:

"Couldn't even fathom it, you know? Went home and hugged my kids that night." Return to index of stories...
