WEAK COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH
In the month of December, cold fronts can be strong or weak as they pass southwest Florida. This week we will see both. A weak front is crossing the area today and a stronger front will move in early Friday morning. The weather tonight will be partly cloudy and a wind shift to the northwest will signal a little drop in humidity tonight and tomorrow. It should be nice sleeping weather tonight with the temperatures dropping to 60 along the coast and 50's inland. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly clear this evening.
Tomorrow will be a nice sunny day with a high around 80 - 82 and more clear weather to follow tomorrow night. By Thursday we will track a stronger cold front approaching the area and skies will turn cloudy by late day. Rain showers will likely develop late Thursday and early Friday as the front moves through and drops our temperatures for the weekend ahead. You can expect highs around 70 and lows in the 40's by Saturday morning! But, as most of our cool snaps are known to do, the weather will warm up a bit by Monday and Tuesday of next week. In fact, it looks like 80 degrees again for Christmas Day.

"We are not going to be able to take all the guns out of Americans hands but I think we must begin to talk to America about violence itself."
THE OWNERS OF EAGLE GUN RANGE SAY THE DON'T ADVOCATE VIOLENCE. THEY HAVE NUMEROUS GUN SAFETY CLASSES.
"This is one of the reasons we opened the range is to educate children to train them in the correct way to use them and it can be a fun sport, it doesn't have to be a dangerous sport."
GUN RIGHTS ADVOCATES SAY THE PROBLEM IS THE PERSON BEHIND THE GUN.NOT THE WEAPON ITSELF.
"If people want to hurt another person they can use a baseball bat."
"The difference is the baseball bat is for hitting a baseball, a gun is for killing people."
WHILE THE TWO SIDES DIFFER OF WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. BOTH SAY THEY ARE UNITED IN PAIN AND ANGER ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED IN CONNECTICUT AND BOTH BELIEVE SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE SO NO MORE INNOCENT CHILDREN DIE IN SCHOOLS.

TONIGHT POLICE IN CALIFORNIA ARE LOOKING FOR AN ENTIRE FAMILY CAUGHT ON TAPE SHOPLIFTING.
THEY BROUGHT 4 CHILDREN WITH THEM ONE WOMAN PUTTING ITEMS BETWEEN HERSELF AND A BABY.
TIM DALY SHOWS US THE VIDEO.
Return to index of stories...
When you see the group enter Monogram Magic, in Manteca--last Tuesday---they
appear to be typical shoppers.
When they apparently start stuffing their bags and clothing with jewelry,
wallets, purses-- even a lettermans jacket---well that's not typical.
"i'd like to wring someones neck."
Store owner Danette Jarred is really upset for a couple of reasons. Not
just because the 5 adults appear to have no problem stealing her things.
She can't believe they brought 4 children with them. One of the women seems
to put items between herself and the baby she's carrying.
"what are they showing their children.how are they raising those kids"
Danette's not just hoping the police find these people.she's posted their
pictures on facebook, and says a thousand people have re-posted.
"we have to protect ourselves, if we don't take a stand and stop it, gonna
keep going on"
"now when those people are finally arrested, they can't be surprised they
were caught on camera.going in and out of the store, they walked right by
this sign"
If their story is, they needed all that stuff to stay warm this winter---
then this was the absolute wrong approach.Danette says they only needed to
ask.
"i would have given them a jacket.if they just walked into the store.
donated 13 jackets to kids this christmas"
Now Danette's not so forgiving. She wants these people arrested and put in
jail. She's hoping the kids end up with someone who has a better sense of
proper parenting.

YOU COULD SOON TAKE YOUR DRIVING TEST -- WITHOUT EVEN GETTING INTO A CAR
THIS YEAR --
TWO D-M-V'S IN VIRGINIA ARE TESTING OUT AN ALTERNATIVE TO IN-CAR

THE FUTURE OF DRIVING TESTS. AND ONE OF THEM CAN BE FOUND HERE IN
CHARLOTTESVILLE.
Gabriel Camacho\Charlottesville DMV
The purpose of the driving simulator is to see how accurate a person can
drive. So, basically testing driving ability.
RESEARCHERS AT THE U-V-A SCHOOL OF MEDICINE ALONG WITH THE VIRGINIA D-M-V
ARE TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW FAIR AND ACCURATE THE DRIVING SIMULATOR IS.
For the people we've had so far, they believe that is does to a certain
extent.
IT'S NOT NECESSARILY TO REPLACE THE DRIVING TESTS. BUT MAYBE TO WORK
ALONGSIDE THEM DOWN THE ROAD.
It's not going to be like driving your own car but it will test the
same skills.
IT MAY NOT LOOK LIKE A CAR
BUT IT SURE DOES SOUND LIKE ONE.
Suzanne Wilson/Reporter
It's just like sitting in a real car. You get in, put your seat belt on, put
it into gear, and then you just start driving.
THE EXPERIENCE IS EQUIPPED WITH A SPEDOMETER. REAR AND SIDE VIEW MIRRORS.
AND A 180 DEGREE VIEW.
It tests your vision. It tests your motor skills. So, your ability to
break in front of other cars and to avoid potholes and things like that. It
also tests some things such as memory, your working memory. You ability to
do all of those things while seeing signs on the highway and remembering
what they were.
BUT DON'T WORRY. THE TEST RESULTS AREN'T GOING TO AFFECT YOUR CURRENT
DRIVERS' LICENSE OR INSURANCE IN ANY WAY.
If they're doing it right, they actually go longer. So, such things as
not crashing, breaking on time, and things like that.
