"Turning colder and windy"
We will welcome the winter season at 6:12am, and right on cue a strong cold front will march its way across Southwest Florida bringing with it a Christmas chill for the upcoming weekend.
As this front continues to plow across the peninsula, ahead of it we'll be tracking a band of clouds and a few scattered showers across the area during the pre dawn hours. Temperatures will range from the low 50s north to the middle 60s south by the time your ready to head out the door with any shower activity well to our south.
Clouds will clear quickly from north to south with plenty of sun in control of our skies during the day. Despite the sunshine, temperatures were struggle to reach 70°, while many locations will hover in the middle to upper 60s. On top of that, winds will be whipping out of the northwest from 15-20 mph making it feel even cooler than that.
Tonight, skies will remain clear and with cool dry Canadian air spilling down the spine of the peninsula, temperatures will plummet into the low 40s here in town with middle to upper 30s across our inland and northern communities.
Over the weekend a dome of high pressure will be in control of our weather with lots of sunshine headed our way for Saturday. After lows in the 40s, afternoon temperatures will be running 10° cooler than normal as they climb into the middle to upper 60s.
By Sunday, a warming trend will commence with daytime highs rebounding into the low 70s under mostly sunny skies. Heading into the Christmas holiday, the warm up will continue with temperatures back near 80° and lows near 60°.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA."Turning colder and windy"
