ANOTHER COLD NIGHT IN STORE
Just as forecasted Mother Nature left the freezer door open for our first weekend of winter. Temperatures early Saturday were scattered about in the mid 30s to lower 40s. The official low at Page Field was 45 degrees, and we do expect area temperatures to be nearly 5 degrees cooler Sunday morning.
The coldest spot will be Arcadia at 32 degrees, and our warmer sports will be in Western Collier County where they'll experience temperatures near 45 degrees. Here in the City of Palms we'll feel at temperature of 41.
Are there any watches and warnings out? Yes, we have a Freeze Warning for Desoto County from 11 PM Saturday night into 9 AM Sunday morning. This will not be detremental to plants and crops because temperatures will not get below 28 degrees. Just be sure to spray your soils with plenty of water for sundown. We also have a Frost Advisory for nearly all of Southwest Florida with the exeception for areas west of Interstate 75 in Collier County.
This Frost Advisory will have a different meaning for different areas, so let me disect it for you. The urban corridor will only see patchy frost. It'll be very isolated, and it'll be confined to the coldest spots. If you live east of Interstate 75 or Lehigh, it's more likely you'll experience widespread frost. The advisory will last from 11 PM Saturday into 9 AM Sunday.
Bundle up as you head out and please take the necessary precautions to safeguard your plants and pets.
Temperatures will warm up nicely after Sunrise on Sunday. We expect low 70s under mostly sunny skies.
A warming trend begins on Christmas Eve as lows will creep back to the low 50s and 60s. Highs will near 80. That continues for Christmas Eve as well. The skies on both days will feature a mix of sun and clouds.
On Wednesday another cold front will pass through the area and give us a added cloud cover and a chance for rain. We'll also witness a slight cool down as we end the week.
Enjoy the holidays!
