AS ABC'S JON KARL REPORTS.

THE PRESIDENT SPELLED OUT A CLEAR AGENDA DURING HIS INAUGURAL SPEECH.

WHICH INCLUDED EVERYTHING FROM GUN CONTROL TO GAY RIGHTS. Return to index of stories...

NEXT FOUR YEARS FOR OBAMA-PKG

OVER AND OVER AGAIN PRESIDENT OBAMA ECHOED HIS CAMPAIGN SLOGAN - NOW A THEME

FOR HIS SECOND TERM -- FORWARD, TOGETHER

OBAMA MONTAGE: TOGETHER, WE DETERMINED / TOGETHER, WE DISCOVERED /

TOGETHER

WITH THAT HE INVITED ALL AMERICANS TO CELEBRATE THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF

AMERICAN CULTURE

OBAMA SOT: WE HAVE ALWAYS UNDERSTOOD THAT WHEN TIMES CHANGE, SO MUST WE;

PRESERVING OUR INDIVIDUAL FREEDOMS ULTIMATELY REQUIRES COLLECTIVE ACTION.

HE UNAPOLOGETICALLY LAID OUT A PROGRESSIVE AGENDA -- PROMISING ACTION ON

CLIMATE CHANGE, FIGHTING POVERTY, EQUAL PAY FOR WOMEN AND IMMIGRATION.

OBAMA SOT: PROGRESS DOES NOT COMPEL US TO SETTLE CENTURIES-LONG DEBATES

ABOUT THE ROLE OF GOVERNMENT FOR ALL TIME - BUT IT DOES REQUIRE US TO ACT IN

OUR TIME.

AND FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN AN INAUGURAL ADDRESS THE PRESIDENT

SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED GAY RIGHTS.

OBAMA SOT: OUR JOURNEY IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL OUR GAY BROTHERS AND SISTERS

ARE TREATED LIKE ANYONE ELSE UNDER THE LAW - FOR IF WE ARE TRULY CREATED

EQUAL, THEN SURELY THE LOVE WE COMMIT TO ONE ANOTHER MUST BE EQUAL AS WELL.

BUT OBAMA WHO FOUR YEARS AGO TALKED ABOUT THE AUDACITY OF HOPE NOW GIVE A

NOD TO REALITY - REMINDING HIS MOST FERVENT SUPPORTERS PROGRESS REQUIRES

COMPROMISE

OBAMA SOT: WE MUST ACT, KNOWING THAT OUR WORK WILL BE IMPERFECT. WE MUST

ACT, KNOWING THAT TODAY'S VICTORIES WILL BE ONLY PARTIAL

BEFORE HE HEADED BACK INTO THE CAPITOL, PRESIDENT OBAMA STOPPED TO LOOK IN

AWE AT THAT AMAZING VIEW OF THE NATIONAL MALL

OBAMA SOT: I'M GOING TO TAKE A LOOK ONE MORE TIME.

AFTERWARDS THE OBAMA FAMILY TOOK IN THE PARADE IN A DECIDEDLY LESS FORMAL

WAY -- DANCING, SNAPPING PHOTOS, AND EVEN CHEWING GUM.

LIVE CLOSE - AND THOSE PEOPLE HELPED THE PRESIDENT WIN THE LAST CAMPAIGN HE

WILL EVER RUN BUT HE STILL WANTS THERE HELP - SETTING UP A GRASS ROOTS

ORGANIZATION, FUELED ON UNLIMITED CONTRIBUTIONS, TO BUILD PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR

FORECAST-WXWALL

We're in store for a slightly cooler, seasonable Tuesday across Southwest Florida now that another cool front has cleared the area. After starting with morning temperatures in the upper 50s, we'll warm to the mid 70s during the afternoon, which is right around average for this time of year.

The only complication with today's weather will be cloud cover as we're right under a steady stream of thin cirrus clouds, which will likely dim our sunshine for most of the day.

Winds will be a little stronger today out of the northeast between 5-15 mph with some gusts up to 20.

By tonight, the veil of cirrus clouds should begin to thin out a bit more, leading to a partly cloudy to mostly clear sky by early Wednesday morning.

Temperatures will be a bit cooler tonight with overnight lows dipping into the low 50s and even some 40s deeper inland. Most of urban Southwest Florida will cool to near 52°, but locations farther north and deeper inland will see the potential for temperatures to drop as low as the mid 40s.

Wednesday should be much sunnier as the high thin clouds continue to exit, so mostly sunny should fit the bill tomorrow. Even with the cooler start Wednesday morning, daytime high should be roughly the same as today with afternoon temperatures warming into the mid 70s.

After another cool morning with lows in the upper 40s early Thursday, a gradual warm up will begin Thursday afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 70s. By Saturday, afternoon highs will be close to 80°, but another cool front is expected to swing through late Saturday, which will lower temperatures close to average once again by the late weekend into early next week.

With such a moisture-starved atmosphere, rain prospects will stay very low through the next seven days even as the next front passes through this weekend.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

ALLY, HOW'S IT LOOKING RIGHT NOW. Return to index of stories...

FIRST WEATHER-WX CENTER

Return to index of stories...

ALGERIA HOSTAGE LATEST-PKG

It was four days of terror, seen in these first videos from inside recorded

by one of the hostages, and broadcast by Algerian state TV.

Based on official accounts, at least 38 of these men were either executed by

the terrorists or killed in rescue attempts.

Three of them American.

Gordon Lee Rowan of Oregon and Frederick Buttaccio and Victor

Lovelady of Texas, whose daughter is devastated.

Erin Lovelady: "We asked him all the time 'do you feel safe? Do you feel

safe going if you don't feel safe you don't have to go.' And he goes 'oh I

feel so safe - nothing's happened there in so long

Among the Americans able to get out was Steven Wysocki of

Colorado, whose wife told ABC News of his harrowing tale.

Kristi Wysocki: " My feeling of it is he's been to hell and back.

Wysocki's wife says her husband hid from the terrorists in his office at the

gas plant facility, often under his desk, before making a run for it.

Kristi Wysocki: "He was there in hiding for about two and a half days,

within two or three feet of some of the terrorists, at times, some of his

friends didn't make it. There were a couple of times when he said he truly

did think he was going to die."

Algerian authorities say the attackers were heavily armed and one of them

spoke perfect English, believed to be from Canada.

The leader of the al Qaeda group behind the attack is now the number one

target in a rapidly expanding US-French military operation near his base in

the neighboring African country of Mali, where the first American transport

planes landed Monday. Return to index of stories...

--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS--

EVERY SUPER BOWL IS AN ECONOMIC MEGA-BOOST FOR THE HOST CITY, AND DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES HAVE BEEN WORKING IN OVERDRIVE TO BE READY FOR THE CROWDS.

"This block here is precisely the place where jazz began."

OWNERS OF LITTLE GEMS SALOON SET OUT TO REVITALIZE THE 100-YEAR-OLD BUILDING IN TIME FOR SUPER BOWL.

"From a construction point of view, this was a tremendous challenge, and it was a race to be open in business now."

IT WAS A QUICK TURNAROUND.

CONSTRUCTION BEGAN IN AUGUST.

THE OFFICIAL GRAND OPENING WAS HELD SUNDAY NIGHT.

WHILE CROWDS AT WALK-ONS WATCHED AS THE TEAMS WERE DECIDED, MANAGERS HERE HAVE SPENT SEVERAL MONTHS LAYING OUT A GAME PLAN AND PREPPING THE STAFF.

"We're staffed up more-so than usual just to ensure that everything is taken care of. We want glasses full and stomachs full." "We hope everybody in the city comes to this place, at least hangs out for a little while, buys one drink or just an appetizer."

THE BAR MANAGER IS EXPECTING TO BRING IN DOUBLE THE REVENUE THAN THEY TYPICALLY GET DURING A REGULAR SEASON SAINTS GAME.

"It's usually the best days of the month or the year for us, so if we can at least meet that and exceed that, then we'll be happy with it."

OVER ON BOURBON STREET, HARD ROCK CAFE -- AN OLD CLASSIC -- PUSHED TO OPEN ITS NEW LOCATION AHEAD OF THE GAME-DAY CROWDS.

"Being so close to Canal, we expect with all the hotels on Canal, the Super Bowl crowds should just be massive coming down, and we're all very excited to have the Super Bowl in New Orleans again, and so close to Mardi Gras, it's going to be an amazing three-week period."

THEY'RE RELYING ON PRIOR EXPERIENCE TO GET THEM THROUGH.

"Having hard rocks in other cities that have super bowl in the cities, I can actually call indianapolis last year and find out the trends in indianapolis -- when business came in, when it hit, when it left -- and be prepared for here in New Orleans." Return to index of stories...
