THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
We've got lots of variety in our weather coming this week for Southwest Florida.
For those that prefer the spring-like warmth and sunshine, these next two days are for you as afternoon temperatures get close to record territory through the next couple of days. If, however, you prefer the cooler, more seasonable weather, you won't have to wait long because the next cold front will arrive by Thursday morning.
First, let's cover the final stretch of our current warm spell. For today and Wednesday, a more southerly component to the wind will keeping bringing in the warmth and humidity, bringing temperatures well above average. Daytime highs should reach the mid 80s, and overnight lows will only cool into the mid 60s. Look for lots of sunshine mixed in with some patchy, fair-weather clouds and a strong southeasterly breeze from 10-15 mph with some higher gusts.
By Wednesday night into early Thursday morning, the next cold front will come sweeping through Southwest Florida, bringing some scattered showers during the pre-dawn hours Thursday. By mid to late morning Thursday, the showers will exit, and the cool air will start filtering in our winds pick up again but become more northerly.
Daytime temperatures Thursday will likely only warm into the low to mid 70s, and then the more noticeable chill will be felt Thursday night as lows dip into the 40s.
Friday will be another cool, sunny, and seasonable day with highs in the mid 70s and low humidity.
Temperatures will gradually begin to moderate by the weekend, but another passing weather system will replenish the cool air by Sunday, which should help slow the warm up as we head into early next week.
