NICE WEEKEND EXPECTED
WEEKEND EXPECTED
A weak cold front pushed through the area on Friday. It brought with it a few showers and clouds the first half of the day, and what's moving in behind it? Well, not much of a change in our weather.
It'll continue to be sunny and warm during the afternoons, however, our mornings will be slightly cooler.
You'll notice that change early Saturday morning as lows bottom out in the upper 50s here in town with lower to middle 50s across our inland and northern cool spots.
High pressure will be building in for the weekend and this will set the stage for a beautiful Saturday under mostly sunny skies. Even though temperatures will recover into the 80s, our afternoons will feel quite pleasant with comfortable humidity values.
Our mainly dry weather pattern will stay firmly in place through the first half of the week with plenty of sunshine and highs in the lower to middle 80s.
By Wednesday, we'll be tracking another cold front moving across the "Sunshine State" with the potential for another round of rain and a cool down by the end of next week.
Overall the next 7 days look fabulous!

A CRYING BABY AT 4 A-M
CHRIS STOKES FATHER OF 17 MONTH OLD ZAYDEN REMEMBERS IT WELL.
"WE'D WAKE UP AND HOLD HIM AND GIVE HIM A BOTTLE JUST LAY BACK DOWN WITH HIM UNTIL HE WENT BACK TO SLEEP."
BUT THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU SHOULDN'T DO ACCORDING TO A NEW STUDY BY PSYCHOLOGIST DOCTOR MARSHA WEINRAUB.
"Mothers who rush to their babies in the middle of the night because they are crying are doing a disservice to their babies. they're interfering with their babies ability to learn to self soothe the way the rest of us do."
DR. WEINRAUB SAYS BABIES WHO HAVE TROUBLE FALLING BACK TO SLEEP ARE GENERALLY FUSSY, HAVE OVERLY ATTENTIVE MOTHERS AND ARE BREAST FED. USED TO FALLING ASLEEP IN THEIR MOTHER'S ARMS.
"You wouldn't want to go to sleep in a cold bed either if you've been used to sleeping in arms."
THEY ALSO TEND TO BE MALE.
"It could be that boys in general are more fussy."
BUT WHATEVER THE REASON, THE DOCTOR SAYS BABIES MUST LEARN TO FALL BACK TO SLEEP WITHOUT BEING HELD OR NURSED AND THE STUDY FINDS NOT HARM TO THE MOTHER CHILD RELATIONSHIP.
"It's very painful it's tugging at your heartstrings but you have to say that's my baby and she's learning a new skill."
"There is something inside that is just like 'no you gotta get up'."
"Parents have to learn to hold back."

AD-LIB WEATHER CHAT
-Tyler
NICE WEEKEND EXPECTED

Mary Jensen knows all too well the stresses that come along with head
lice.
| Mary Jensen | Bug Bunnies Co-Owner
"My youngest had head lice. She came up with it a couple days before she
was the flower girl in a wedding and it became and all out panic to get rid
of it."
Some health experts believe the issue is growing.
Cedar Rapids Pediatrician Dr. Sharon Collins says the over the counter
chemicals aren't working.
| Dr. Sharon Collins | Pediatric Center P.C
"We were able to get rid of the lice by the use of chemicals once or twice
but because the lice are developing resistance to them now, it's almost like
they say oh good another drink, thank you."
The frustration with dealing with the pests inspired Mary to create a
new business called Bug Bunnies just off of Collins Road Northeast.
She researched cures and discovered the LouseBuster.
"we are dehydrating the lice and the eggs. That takes 30 minutes and at
that point we've killed everything."
Doctor Collins did her own digging on the machine's background
She says it's a good solution.
"They were able to destroy between 95 percent and 100 percent of the eggs
and live lice."
