THE RACE TO SAVE THE PUNTA GORDA SPEEDWAY- JUST STARTING.

THE SPEEDWAY'S OWNER SAYS THAT'S NOT UP TO HIM. BECAUSE THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY OWNS THE LAND THE SPEEDWAYS SITS ON.
"The airline losing one of their players, they need the revenue and they've told us that but they're saying their hands are tied by the FAA."
THE AIRPORT AUTHORITY IS RENTING THE PROPERTY TO THE SPEEDWAY FOR ABOUT 4-THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH.

THE NEW PRICE?
AS MUCH AS 2 TO 3 THOUSAND DOLLARS MORE A MONTH ONCE THE CURRENT LEASE EXPIRES NEXT MONTH.

FOR THOSE THAT CALL THIS SPEEDWAY HOME- IT'S ABOUT TO BECOME A RACE TO THE FINISH LINE.
3146 "I think if this track were to go I would probably park the race car and be done."

3954 "I am a race fan I sponsor two cars out here I want it to continue but within the restrictions the FAA imposes on us we may or may be able to continue."
FANS- RALLIED.
STARTING PETITIONS TO SAVE THE SPEEDWAY.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
SPLENDID SUNDAY IN THE WORKS
Did you enjoy Saturday? If you did I have good news for you. We have more to come!
A fantastic weekend of weather is on the way across Southwest Florida featuring very pleasant temperatures, plentiful sunshine, and comfortable humidity.
Sunshine will dominate Sunday. Only a few fair-weather clouds will develop through the day. Rain won't really be a factor in our forecast through the weekend either as our rain chance remains below 10% through early next week.
The wind will stay fairly breezy through the weekend. They'll turn more southeasterly, and windspeeds will range from 5 to 15 MPH with gusts to near 20.
Our overnight temperatures will stay fairly cool for the next couple of mornings. On Sunday morning we'll start with temperatures in the mid to upper 50s, and on Monday morning our lows will dip into the upper 50s and low 60s. From there highs will be around 83 to 84 degrees for Sunday and Monday.
As we head into early next week, we'll stay warm and dry with lots of sunshine through Tuesday. Temperatures will stay quite warm as well with daytime highs climbing all the way into the mid 80s under a partly cloudy sky. Our forecast could get a little interesting in terms of rain prospects Wednesday as a cool front slides down the Florida peninsula and stalls out over South Florida. If this scenario pans out, the stalled front may bring a few days of rainy weather from Wednesday through Friday.
