THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
A strong cold front that swiftly moved through Southwest Florida yesterday has put us back into winter mode, as arctic air continues to spill down the spine of the peninsula. You'll want to bundle up early this Sunday morning as the mercury has plunged into the 30s and 40s area wide. Combine the actual air temperature with breeze, and we easily have wind chill values in the low to mid 30s.
Through the morning skies will stay sunny and temperatures will be slow to rise. Even with wall to wall sunshine during the afternoon hours, daytime highs will range from the upper 50s north to lower 60s south. Winds will continue to settle through out the day, but still plan on a cool breeze out of the north making it feel even cooler than what the thermometer actually reads.
Tonight, skies will be clear and winds will be light. This will set the stage for another very cold night across our part of the state with the potential for frost to develop by early morning. Overnight lows will plummet into the upper 30s along the urban corridor with our inland areas dropping near 32°.
Cool high pressure will dominate our weather pattern to start the week, however the arctic airmass that has settled on top of us will begin to modify and the warm up will begin. By Monday afternoon temperatures will rebound into the lower 70s under mostly sunny skies and pleasant humidity values.
As winds take a turn more to the east and southeast, overnight lows will eventually warm into the low to mid 60s by Thursday, while afternoon highs return to the low to mid 80s.

Everywhere Erin goes now she says her gun is on her.after that terrifying night three weeks ago
I looked up and he was like this pointing the gun straight at me and I am just looking at the end of the gun
Three men, one of them armed, broke into Erin's house an hour outside of Houston. She was alone with her six year old son.
Outnumbered and scared, the young mother had one thought
My gun, my gun, my gun. That was the only thing that was going to save me.
Erin tricked the intruders into her bedroom, where she managed to grab her gun.
I just turned and I shot.
She shot one of them in the stomach.another wrestled her gun away kneeing her in the eye, but all three fled.
Erin believes having a gun saved her life.
Erin did eventually call 911 but not until after the intruders left... women who say they need a gun for protection worry that help will not get to them in time.
nats. of gun range
Paxton Quigley has been training women and writing books about self defense since the 90's after a close friend was raped.
It was not easy for me to get a publisher for my book because there were so many women who were against guns.
She's noticed big changes in women's attitudes towards guns.
Today, the number of women buying them is on the rise.
A gallup poll reported that in 2005 13% of all women owned a gun, that number jumped to 23% in 2011
Many like Stacey Adams say they are buying guns to protect themselves
There aren't many men I know who aren't bigger and stronger than I am. 021439 So, even in the best scenario, I'm already at a loss.
And the number could spike even higher this year triggered by shootings in Aurora Co. and Newtown Ct,
The increase with women has really been apparent over the last, I'd say, 4 to 8 weeks. 021943
It's a trend that worries those who believe more guns put more people in danger.especially women.
The evidence is strong that a gun in the home increases the risk for, of course, a gun accident. The evidence is overwhelming that a gun in the home increases the risk for suicide. And evidence is very strong that a gun in the home increases the risk for femicide.
But even gun control advocates will admit that there are moments when guns are good protection.no one needs to explain that to Erin
It's extremely terrifying to be in your own home and have somebody come in through the window
In that moment she says, a gun was exactly what she needed.

THIS MORNING-
A MASSIVE CLEAN CONTINUES AFTER A METEORITE EXPLODED OVER RUSSIA.
ANNABEL ROBERTS REPORTS.
Return to index of stories...
THERE IS A BIG CLEAN UP UNDERWAY.
THE SHOCKWAVE BLEW OUT WINDOWS IN MORE THAN FOUR-THOUSAND BUILDINGS IN THE CHELYABINSK REGION.
OFFICIALS HAVE PROMISED TO HAVE THOSE WINDOWS FIXED WITHIN A WEEK, BUT THAT IS A LONG TIME TO WAIT IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES.
IT'S A VERY, VERY COLD PART OF THE WORLD.
MIDDAY TEMPERATURE IS ABOUT TEN DEGREES FAHRENHEIT.
SO THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DESPERATELY TRYING TO KEEP WARM.
THEY'RE OUT THERE REPLACING THEIR WINDOWS, BOARDING THEM UP WITH PLASTIC SHEETING AND CARDBOARD, AND THE GLAZIERS ARE BUSY.
NOW I UNDERSTAND THAT OF THE ONE-THOUSAND-200 PEOPLE WHO WERE INJURED ABOUT 15 REMAIN IN HOSPITAL, AND ONE IS IN A COMA.
THE REASON THE INJURIES WERE SO HIGH IS THAT OF COURSE PEOPLE SAW THIS FLASHING LIGHT GOING ACROSS THE SKY, THEY RACED TO THEIR WINDOWS TO HAVE A LOOK AND THEM BOOM THERE WAS THIS HUGE EXPLOSION, AND ALL THE GLASS SHATTERED.
I UNDERSTAND THERE'S ABOUT 33-MILLION DOLLARS OF DAMAGE.
NOW DIVERS ARE OUT LOOKING FOR A LARGE CHUNK THAT IT WAS THOUGHT MIGHT HAVE FALLEN IN A LAKE IN THIS REGION.
SO FAR THEY'VE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING, BUT OF COURSE SCIENTISTS WILL BE VERY INTERESTED TO GET THEIR HANDS ON ANYTHING THEY MIGHT FIND.
IT'S THOUGHT THAT THE METEOR WAS TRAVELING AT 19-MILES-A-SECOND AND THAT IT WAS ABOUT 50 FEET IN DIAMETER, AND IT BROKE APART ABOUT 20 MILES ABOVE EARTH.
