A warm up is on the way"
As we begin the week, we're in store for another cold morning across Southwest Florida. Through the night, winds have dropped off quite a bit allowing temperatures to plunge rapidly into the upper 30s in town with readings closing in on 32° deeper inland. As a result, freeze warnings will remain in effect for Charlotte, Inland Collier, DeSoto, Glades and Hendry until 8 am.Sunshine will fill our skies this morning with a nice warm up on the way. By mid day, temperatures will climb into the 60s with a return to the lower 70s by late afternoon. With a cool and dry airmass still in place across the peninsula humidity values will be quite comfy through the day.
Tonight, mostly clear skies will remain in the forecast, however overnight lows won't be quite as cold. In fact most of the urban corridor will settle into the lower 50s with 40s to our north and across our inland communities.
High pressure will continue to move off the coast with winds taking more of a southeasterly turn through the middle part of the week. This will bring in a few more clouds across our skies each and everyday, while bumping our temperatures up into the lower 80s by Wednesday. A dry pattern will remain in place through the end of the work week with highs rebounding into middle 80s with lows in the middle 60s.

THAN IN THE PAST 30 YEARS.

IT'S LIKE DRAINING THE FAMILY BUDGET WITH EVERY FILL UP. EXPERTS SAY 4 PERCENT OF OUR GROSS INCOME IS NOW SPENT ON FILLING OUR GAS TANK.
"it doesn't make sense, at this point i almost feel numb to it."
AND FOR PEOPLE WHO NEED TO DRIVE. HIGHER PRICES MEAN TAKING MONEY FROM OTHER PARTS OF THE BUDGET.
"ever since gas started to go up i have been a little more frugal. don't go out to eat as much, try to cook more at home."
AND ECONOMIST ALAN GIN SAYS WHEN OUR ECONOMY IS STRUGGLING TO GET BACK ON ITS FEET, HIGHER PRICES CAN KNOCK OUR RECOVERY OFF TRACK.
"the more people spend on gasoline the less they have to spend on other parts of the economy. so that could slow our economic growth."
"The frustrating thing here, we're actually buying less gas than we did 5 or 10 years ago. the problem is, that gas keeps getting more and more expensive."
"the average price in 2012 was probably higher than it has been in any other year."
AND WITH THE EXCEPTION OF OUR FUEL SPENDING IN 2008. LAST YEAR, GAS TOOK THE BIGGEST SLICE OUT OF THE FAMILY BUDGET PIE THAN IN THE LAST THREE DECADES. SO FOR DRIVERS. THERE REALLY IS PAIN AT THE PUMP. THE PROBLEM. IS TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION.
"why get mad? I have to get gas, I'll just search for the best gas station price. and that's all i can do right now."

Even before this Pope has fully said his goodbyes, behind the scenes the
focus has already turned to choosing his successor. A process that has
always followed strict rules and is full of intrigue.
As the cardinals quietly jockey for position, differences over the smallest
of of details can cause a schism.
This weekend, the Vatican floated a trial balloon: Perhaps the cardinals won
't wait the usual 15 days to start the election.
But from some quarters strong objections. That only the pope can change
church law. And for Benedict to do so now might look like he's meddling.

BEGGING FOR MONEY IS NOT SOMETHING CATHERINE HALL EVER THOUGHT SHE WOULD HAVE TO DO.
I had to run to a bank two Fridays ago and beg them to give me a loan just so I can pay my contractor. And once he is finished doing this segment of the work we have to stop because we have no more money.
NEARLY FOUR MONTHS SINCE SUPER STORM SANDY DESTROYED HER HOME IN ISLAND PARK, NEW YORK -- HALL -- WHO IS ORIGINALLY FROM BRITAIN -- HAS BEEN CALLING HER MORTGAGE BANKER ALMOST EVERY DAY. SHE'S BEGGING THEM TO RELEASE INSURANCE MONEY -- SO SHE AND HER FAMILY CAN REBUILD AND GO HOME.
We have a 4 year little old boy who um and basically we spent his college fund, you know the money we put by since his birth towards being able to send him to college later in life is what we spent. Its gone.
HALL, HER HUSBAND BOB AND THEIR FOUR YEAR OLD SON NATHAN HAVE BEEN LIVING IN A HOTEL SINCE NOVEMBER. THIS VIDEO SHE SHOT DURING SANDY SHOWS THE DAMAGE THAT HIT HER HOME AND NEIGHBORHOOD.
THE HALLS ARE AMONG MORE THAN 6000 FAMILIES STILL WAITING FOR INSURANCE MONEY. NEW YORK'S GOVERNOR BLAMED UNNECESSARY RED-TAPE AND ACCUSED BANKS OF FAILING TO RELEASE MORE THAN 200 MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF INSURANCE.
THE PROBLEM IS SOME LENDERS REQUIRE PROOF THE REPAIR HAS BEEN MADE, BEFORE THEY WILL REIMBURSE FOR THE COST OF THAT REPAIR.
There's a lot of older people here that, you know, that just don't have any money. And they're being told that… you know, do 30 percent of the work and then they'll get thirty percent of the money. Do 50 percent of the work, you'll get 50 percent of the money
They reason they do that I think is that they are scared you will get a check and leave… and leave them with a property that is not sellable. You know but we have invested a lot of money in the house and this is our home.
BANKS CONTACTED BY CNN INCLUDING WELLS FARGO, JP MORGAN, CITIBANK AND BANK OF AMERICA TELL CNN THEY HAVE DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN 75% OF INSURANCE MONEY. THE HALL'S MORTGAGE LENDER, WHO THEY ASKED WE NOT NAME, DID NOT RESPOND.
You know we came here to live the American dream and now we are living the American nightmare because they are holding our money and we cant get and its not fair its not fair on anyone and everybody is in the same position every body like I said to you ….I don't know of a single person who has had a dime!!!!!

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
