FORECAST-WXWALL

Another round of fog is possible again this evening. As temperatures cool before midnight we could see some areas in southwest Florida with reduced visibility for a time. This fog forecast for tonight is not quite the same as last night, because a cold front is moving down the peninsula and should help to break up the fog a little sooner. The front will arrive tomorrow and linger through Thursday. Our weather will likely be very different on Wednesday and Thursday versus what we saw today. Cloudy skies are expected, temperatures will be lower, wind picks up a little, and. some rain showers are possible. The best chance for showers to develop will be late in the day on Wednesday. There will likely be on / off showers on Thursday. Temperatures for the next 2 days will cool into the 60's during the day and into the low 50's at night.

But take heart. the long-range forecast looks just fine for the weekend! Sunshine will start to return on Friday and by Saturday/Sunday we will be back in the 80's with mostly sunny weather. Return to index of stories...

SICK CRUISE SHIP LATEST-TC MON

NEW DETAILS TONIGHT ON THE FAST-MOVING VIRUS THAT HAS TAKEN HOLD OF A ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISE SHIP.

PASSENGERS SAYING THE SITUATION ON THE "EXPLORER OF THE SEAS" MAY ACTUALLY BE WORSE THAN WHAT WE'VE BEEN HEARING.

AS A-B-C'S BRANDI HITT REPORTS -- THE SHIP IS QUICKLY MAKING ITS WAY BACK TO PORT. Return to index of stories...

SICK CRUISE SHIP LATEST-PKG

SCRIPT:

PASSENGERS ABOARD ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S "EXPLORER OF THE SEAS". SAY THEY'RE

READY FOR THEIR VACATION NIGHTMARE TO FINALLY BE OVER. AFTER HUNDREDS CAME

DOWN WITH WHAT OFFICIALS BELIEVE IS THE HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS NOROVIRUS.

SOT -- Voice Of: Arnee Dodd, Passenger /

"It was vomiting and diarrhea. It almost had no warning."

AND SOME BELIEVE THE NUMBER OF SICK ON BOARD. IS MORE THAN THE 600

INITIALLY REPORTED BY THE CRUISE LINE.

SOT -- Chris Roman, Passenger

"A lot of people took it upon themselves that if they felt sick to just stay

in their rooms and just wait it out. and so the number of reported doesn'

t reflect how many people are really sick."

CDC INSPECTORS ARE ON BOARD WHILE WORKERS SCRUB THE SHIP. AS IT HEADS BACK

TO NEW JERSEY AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.

IT'S BELIEVED THE VIRUS CAME ON BOARD WITH A SICK PERSON OR IN CONTAMINATED

FOOD. AND IT'S VERY HARD TO DISINFECT.

SOT -- Prof. Aaron Margolin, PhD, University of New Hampshire

"Up to two to three weeks, after you start feeling better, you still are

considered contagious."

ROYAL CARIBBEAN TELLS ABC NEWS -- "ALL GUESTS ON THIS WEEK'S CRUISE WILL

RECEIVE A 50 PERCENT REFUND OF THEIR CRUISE FARE. AND AN ADDITIONAL 50

PERCENT FUTURE CRUISE CREDIT. WE WILL ALSO REIMBURSE AIRLINE CHANGE FEES AND

ACCOMMODATIONS FOR GUESTS WHOSE TRAVEL HOME WAS INCONVENIENCED BY THE

CHANGE OF TRAVEL PLANS."

BUT ANGRY PASSENGERS BELIEVE. THAT'S NOT ENOUGH.

SOT -- Voice Of: Marina Fatovic, Passenger

"People are much more pissed off today than they were yesterday, because we

got a letter and people are realizing that our compensation is only $400 for

our stateroom."

"THE C-D-C SAYS SAMPLES HAVE BEEN SENT TO A LAB TO CONFIRM IF THIS IS A

NOROVIRUS OUTBREAK.

THE SHIP IS SCHEDULED TO REACH IT'S HOME PORT IN NEW JERSEY WEDNESDAY.

BRANDI HITT -- ABC NEWS -- LOS ANGELES." Return to index of stories...

WHY DO ILLNESSES SPREAD SO QUICKLY ON SHIPS?-CG VI

THANKS BRANDI.

TONIGHT MANY ARE WONDERING HOW SO MANY PEOPLE GOT THAT SICK - SO QUICKLY AND THEY WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE CRUISE LINE IS DOING TO MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN RERESENTATIVES SAY TONIGHT ONE IN FIVE PASSENEGRS ARE SICK WITH SYMPTOMS OF THE HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS NOROVIRUS.

IT'S LIKELY BECAUSE OF THE HIGH NUMBER OF PASSENGERS IN A CONFINED SPACE.

THERE'S ALSO CONSTANT AND CLOSE INTERACTION THAT CAN TRASMIT THE VIRUS FROM PERSON TO PERSON. Return to index of stories...

WHY DO ILLNESSES SPREAD SO QUICKLY ON SHIPS?-CG VI

CRUISE WORKERS ARE ASKING PASSENGERS TO STAY IN THEIR ROOMS TO PREVENT THE SPREAD.

THEY ALSO WANT THEM TO STAY HYDRATED.

THERE IS NO BUFFET.

SILVERWARE -- CUPS -- FOOD -- NOTHING IS BEING TOUCHED BY ANYONE OTHER THAN STAFF.

CONSTANT HAND WASHING IS ALSO CRITCIAL. Return to index of stories...
