530AM~STORMWARN FORECAST-WX CTR TO WX WALL

"Near record heat"

It was a warm start to the week with afternoon temperatures running 10° above average for this time of year. The unseasonably warm weather will remain locked in place for the next several days, with a slight cool down to follow by early next week.

Areas of fog will be a concern as we get our Tuesday morning started. Some of this fog could be thick in spots resulting in reduced visibilities. As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for Lee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties until 10am. Once some of the low clouds dissipate, we'll be treated to a mix of sun and clouds during the afternoon. A southeasterly breeze will continue to pump in the humidity and the warmth as daytime highs climb into the middle 80s. In fact, a few of our inland communities are on their way to the upper 80s today. The developing west coast seabreeze will keep our beaches and coastal areas a few degrees cooler. Due to the heat and extra humidity, an isolated shower or two can't be ruled out. Any rain that develops during the day will favor areas east of I-75.

Tonight, a few patchy clouds will give way to areas of fog during the pre dawn hours. It will also be another mild and muggy night as temperatures settle into the middle to upper 60s.

A front situated to our north will slowly work its way across central Florida and stall on Wednesday. This will keep an increased chance for rain in the forecast during the afternoon and through Thursday. Daytime highs will remain warm as they return into the lower to middle 80s. Clouds will stick around through Friday before the sunshine returns for the first half of the weekend. By Sunday, we'll be tracking another front making its way down the Florida peninsula. This weather system will bring scattered showers to the area on Sunday, with another cool down in the works by early next week. Return to index of stories...
