"Increasing rain chances"

It certainly was a hot one yesterday as our afternoon high climbed to 88° in Fort Myers. This broke our record high of 87° at Page Field, which was set back in 1997. Over the next few days, temperatures won't be quite as warm as rain prospects increase. We'll finally track some cooler air set to arrive early next week with the passage of a cold front.

Our morning will start off with a few clouds and even a patch or two of fog out by the coast. It will also be quite mild with temperatures in the middle to upper 60s. A mix of sun and clouds will take us into the late morning hours as temperatures begin their climb into the middle to upper 70s. Daytime highs will max out in the lower half of the 80s today with increasing clouds during the afternoon. As a front works its way across central Florida and stalls, a few showers will be possible during the afternoon, especially along and east of I-75 as steering winds remain from the south/southwest.

Tonight, expect mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the middle 60s. Rain chances will continue to run near 30% with a few widely scattered showers during the evening and overnight period.

Clouds will stick around through Thursday and Friday along with a slight rain chance, before more sunshine breaks out for the first half of the weekend. Temperatures will run several degrees above average for this time of year as highs return to the 80s for Saturday. A stronger cold front will approach the area on Sunday bringing scattered showers to Southwest Florida. In the wake of this front, a cooler airmass will move in with highs in the middle 70s along with lower humidity. Return to index of stories...
