BETTER WEATHER AHEAD

Clouds and cooler air filtered into Southwest Florida Thursday, with highs only in the low 70s. Rain showers are developing in the Gulf of Mexico, and these showers will push into the area through the evening time frame. The showers should slowly diminish overnight, with lows in the mid 50s.

More sunshine is on the way for Friday. We'll see partly cloudy skies through the daytime hours, with highs in the mid 70s. Overnight lows will again be cool, with temps in the mid 50s.

The weekend still looks great across the area. Expect plenty of sunshine both days with low humidity values. Highs on Saturday will be in the low 80s, with temps on Sunday in the low to mid 80s.

The nice weather continues into next week. A few more clouds will appear starting Monday, with highs in the mid 80s. Dry weather continues into Tuesday, with temps in the low 80s.

Our next storm system will likely arrive midweek, which will bring a good chance of showers and possibly storms to the area. Return to index of stories...

AND IN TONIGHT'S A-B-C 7 --

THE COMEDIAN'S NOW TAKING CONGRESS TO TASK --

FOR NOT EVEN BOTHERING TO LISTEN TO HIM. Return to index of stories...

ROGEN HEARING-PKG

EVERY DAY, THERE ARE A LOT OF BORING HEARINGS ON CAPITAL HILL.

BUT WHEN A CELEBRITY -- LIKE ACTOR SETH ROGEN, STAR OF COMEDIES LIKE "40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN" AND "KNOCKED UP" -- COMES TO TOWN --

IT'S PRETTY MUCH A SURE THING PLENTY OF PEOPLE WILL BE WATCHING.

ROGEN" "I don't know if you know who I am. You told me you never saw 'Knocked up, Chairman,' it's a little insulting."

HARKIN: "I will wager this is the first the time in any congressional hearing in history that the words knocked up have been used."

ROGEN: "Oy, you're not going to like the rest of this then."

ALL THAT EXTRA ATTENTION *CAN* FOCUS LAWMAKERS ON SERIOUS ISSUES LIKE ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE.

IT'S WHY ROGEN WAS THERE.

ALZHEIMER'S HAS LEFT HIS OWN MOTHER-IN-LAW UNABLE TO CARE FOR HERSELF.

"After forgetting who she and her loved ones were, my mother in law, a teacher for 35 years, then forgot how to speak, feed herself, dress herself, and go the bathroom herself. All by the age of 60."

BUT, ROGEN'S WAS TINY.

JUST TWO OF 18 SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBERS STUCK AROUND TO LISTEN.

ROGEN MADE SURE THAT DIDN'T GO UNNOTICED.

"ALL THOSE EMPTY SEATS ARE SENATORS WHO ARE NOT PRIORITIZING ALZHEIMER'S," HE TWEETED AFTERWARD.

AND, WHEN ILLINOIS SENATOR MARK KIRK TWEETED THIS PICTURE OF THE TWO TOGETHER BEFORE THE SPEECH --

AND A NOTE READING: "THANKS TO SETHROGEN FOR SPEAKING OUT".

. ROGEN SHOT BACK: ".SENATOR KIRK, PLEASURE MEETING YOU. WHY DID YOU LEAVE BEFORE MY SPEECH?"

KIRK SAID HAD ANOTHER MEETING, BUT LATER WATCHED ROGEN'S TESTIMONY.

"there seems to be almost zero acknowledgement of it." Return to index of stories...

ROGEN HAS LAUNCHED HIS OWN ALZHEIMER'S AWARENESS FUND, "HILARITY FOR CHARITY."
