DEVELOPING TONIGHT -- A MAKE-OR-BREAK MOMENT FOR NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR CHRIS CHRISTIE.

GOOD EVENING -- I'M COURTNEY ROBINSON.

AND I'M JOE ROETZ.

CHRISTIE REVIEW-PKG

The internal review of the plot to create gridlock exonerates Governor

Christie

SOT/Randy Mastro - There is not a shred, not a shred of hard evidence that

the governor did anything other than what he has said

The attorney Christie's office hired to investigate says those crippling

lane closures on the nation's busiest bridge.

NAT caller - "The GW bridge is totally gridlocked"

.happened entirely without the governor's knowledge. orchestrated by

two close Christie allies.

Investigators said both had an unknown "ulterior motive," but found no

evidence of political retribution.

Christie sat down today exclusively with ABC's Diane Sawyer.

SOT/Diane Sawyer - Does it defy credulity that aides and appointees would

have a personal annoyance / therefore they shut down the biggest bridge in

the world?

SOT/Gov. Chris Christie - When things were first reported, I said, 'This can

't possibly be true.' Because who would do something like that?' Sometimes,

people do inexplicably stupid things.

Critics say the million-dollar report is biased and full of holes. All of

the key figures in the scandal refused to be interviewed.

SOT/Loretta Weinsberg, NJ State Senate - this was a very expensive, 'the

dog really did eat my homework' report.

The state legislature and federal prosecutors have separate investigations

that are ongoing. But Christie is confident he'll be vindicated.

SOT/Gov. Chris Christie - I think all the important questions will be

answered.

CLOSE: The report recommended appointing an ethics czar to the governor's

office. Meanwhile, Christie still hasn't ruled out a run for president -- a

decision he's said he'll make sometime next year.

BREEZY WITH MORE CLOUDS

It is a cool morning across Southwest Florida, but warmer weather is on the way today. Winds will come from the east, turning east-southeasterly at 10-15 mph with gusts near 20 mph. While it won't be as windy as yesterday, it will still be rather breezy. With more of that east to southeasterly turn on the winds, we will warm up today. Afternoon highs are headed to near 80 degrees. With more humidity coming into play we can't rule out a very spotty shower popping up this afternoon. Overnight, we'll see plenty of clouds and we won't be as cool. Expect low temperatures Friday morning to bottom out in the mid 60s with lower 60s inland.

For tomorrow, we'll have cloudy skies and even a few showers showing up by evening.

A cold front pressing its way into Southwest Florida will give scattered showers for Saturday into Sunday. Some of the latest computer guidance suggests that the rain may taper off by Sunday afternoon.so it's possible that the end of the weekend might turn out to be rain-free. KELLY MELENDEZ IS EXPECTING HER FIRST CHILD. SHE'S NOT SURE IF SHE'S HAVING A BOY OR GIRL. SHE IS SURE SHE'S GETTING THE BEST MEDICAL CARE POSSIBLE.

"when Kelly came to me for her obstetrical care she had a few challenges in her medical history that I just felt needed a little bit more expertise and advice on how to best coordinate her care."

ONE OF HER CONCERNS? KELLY HAD A HISTORY OF OCULAR MIGRAINES WHICH LED TO A DIAGNOSIS OF A BORDERLINE AUTOIMMUNE CONDITION.

"and this condition could potentially lead to complications during pregnancy including pregnancy loss and pre eclampsia later in pregnancy and Dr. Sharp's question to me was whether there was anything special we needed to do for the pregnancy in terms of treatment."

SO DR. KENNETH CHEN CONSULTED WITH HIS TEAM OF EXPERTS.

"and we all ended up coming to the concensus after discussing that we should put her on a low dose aspirin during her pregnancy."

"the gestational diabetes was unexpected."

AS A RESULT OF THAT DIAGNOSIS DURING PREGNANCY, KELLY IS NOW BEING TREATED WITH INSULIN THERAPY. BUT THIS CHEMISTRY TEACHER HAD YET ANOTHER CONCERN.

"I do a lot of wet lab work with my students and I wasn't sure if the chemicals I was using in the lab could potentially pose a risk to the baby so I had spoken to Dr. Chen at length. he looked over everything and told me what was safe to do and what I should avoid at this point."

FOR OBGYNS, LIKE DR. SHARP, THIS NEW INTEGRATED PROGRAM FOR HIGH RISK PREGNANCY IS INVALUABLE.

"it's been a remarkable resource. I can't do my job without it." Return to index of stories...
