FIRST WEATHER-PWC

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

The first phase of rain comes early this morning with scattered showers building in from the Gulf of Mexico. After the initial round of rain through the first half of the morning, we'll likely get a break in the activity through midday, but another band of rain and storms will approach by the afternoon and evening.

A few of these storms could produce gusty winds and frequent lightning, but it appears the primary risk for severe weather today will be across Central Florida.

WEATHER-WXWALL

FULL WX

Aside from rain chances around 60%, it's going to be a warm and breezy day with plenty of clouds and limited sunshine. Despite the lack of sunshine, temperatures should have no trouble reaching the low to mid 80s during the day.

Some showers and storms may linger for the first half of the night, and then we'll see gradual clearing from north to south as the cool front clears Southwest Florida.

Sunday should end up being a really nice day with tons of sun, lower humidity and temperatures only in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees during the afternoon.

Winds will be a factor in our weather tomorrow as a stiff northerly breeze gusts up to 20-30 mph.

Sunday night will be the coolest night of the next seven as temperatures drop to the mid 50s under a mostly clear sky.

The rest of our week is shaping up nicely; it'll be very spring like with plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid 80s.

KIER SIMMONS HAS THE STORY FROM MALAYSIA. Return to index of stories...

MISSING PLANE-PKG

INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING NEWS IF WHAT TURNS OUT BEING REPORTED BY THE CHINESE MEDIA NOW TURNS OUT TO BE THE CASE.

ONE WEBSITE FOR A MAJOR CHINESE NEWSPAPER IS SAYING THAT THE MATERIAL PULLED ON TO TWO SHIPS, ONE CHINESE, ONE AUSTRALIAN, DOES NOT RELATE TO FLIGHT 370, AND THE CHINESE STATE-BROADCASTER IS SAYING THAT EFFECTIVELY THAT MATERIAL HAS TURNED OUT TO BE GARBAGE.

NOW CLEARLY, THAT HASN'T BEEN CONFIRMED BY NBC NEWS - NO OFFICIAL SOURCES HAVE CONFIRMED THAT.

THE MATERIAL IS BEING TAKEN BACK TO AUSTRALIA, WILL BE LOOKED AT CLOSELY THERE, SO IT WELL MAY BE THAT IN CLOSE INSPECTION IT TURNS OUT TO HAVE SOME RELATIONSHIP, IT IS SOME EVIDENCE OF WHAT HAPPENED TO FLIGHT 370

"At the end of the day, they only want to know where are their loved ones."

RELATIVES HERE IN MALAYSIA WHO HAVE BEEN BITTERLY UNHAPPY WITH THE WAY THEY'VE BEEN TREATED BY THE MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT GOT A VISIT TODAY FROM THE TRANSPORTATION MINISTER.

HE SAID THEY URGED HIM TO CONTINUE TO SEE THIS AS A SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATION IF THERE IS ANY GLIMMER OF HOPE, ANY POSSIBILITY THAT THEIR RELATIVES MAY HAVE SURVIVED.

HE SAID HE WOULD DO THAT AND HE WOULD CERTAINLY NOT DISMISS ANY SUCH HOPE IF THERE WAS ANY, BUT CLEARLY IT IS INCREDIBLY REMOTE.
