"Drier and cooler weather settles in"

It was a wet day across Southwest Florida as a cold front pushed through with rain and a few storms. Now that the rain has moved out, we're in store for pleasant changes for the second half of the week, which includes a couple of cool nights.

Our morning will get off to a partly to mostly cloudy start, with slightly cooler temperatures. Most of us are waking up to readings in middle 60s, with a few low 60s across our far northern counties. Winds will continue to be breezy out of the northwest with gusts up to 25mph. Patchy clouds will linger around through the mid day hours, with more sunshine breaking out during the afternoon hours. Daytime highs will be significantly cooler as they top out in the middle to upper 70s. As a dry airmass settles in, humidity levels will drop and our afternoon will remain quite comfortable.

Mostly clear skies will prevail tonight and temperatures will tumble into the middle 50s here in town. There will be a bit of a chill in the air, especially across our inland and northern cool spots, as the mercury drops into lower 50s by morning.

High pressure will have a nice grip on our weather through the end of the week. This will keep us in the 50s for one more night, but as winds start to veer more to the east a quick temperature rebound is forecast. By Thursday, daytime highs will climb into the lower to middle 80s with mainly dry and sunny weather. Rain returns to the area by Tuesday of next week. Return to index of stories...
