SHOWERS AND STORMS HEADING INTO SOUTHWEST FLORIDA

It has been warm and muggy through the day and now showers and storms are starting to move into the area. A cold front is approaching from the Gulf of Mexico and will be the driving force to give us scattered showers and storms through the balance of the afternoon, evening and even into the overnight hours.

By Saturday morning we'll be back to drying things out again. Overnight lows will be near 70 degrees, but behind the front we'll only warm into the lower 80s for afternoon highs on Saturday. It will also be windy behind the front on Saturday with winds from the west gusting around 25 mph. Cloud cover will be decreasing through the day Saturday.

Then, overnight Saturday into Sunday, winds will turn more northwesterly and that will continue to send in cooler, drier air. Morning lows will be in the lower 60s to start Sunday morning. SCIENTISTS AT HARVARD TRACKED HOW MANY TIMES PEOPLE SEARCHED FOR WORDS

RELATED TO INFLUENZA EVERY DAY -- OVER A SIX-YEAR PERIOD.

WHAT THEY FOUND WAS INTRIGUING.

THE UPS AND DOWNS IN FLU SEARCHES ON WIKIPEDIA PREDICTED FLU RATES TWO WEEKS FASTER THAN C-D-C UPDATES.

EVEN WHEN FLU RATES WERE ABNORMALLY HIGH THE MODEL WAS ACCURATE.
