FIRST WEATHER-WX CTR

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Our Easter Sunday will get off to a cool and comfy start with temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s. If you're headed out to any sunrise services, you may need to grab a light sweater or cardigan, with that slight chill in the air. We'll see mostly cloudy skies early with a few sprinkles making their way onshore. More sunshine is expected during the afternoon hours as some of that cloud cover associated with a low pressure system begins to break up and thin out. Temperatures will stay warm in the lower 80s, with cooler readings along the coast. As winds turn more northerly, drier air will settle in keeping our humidity levels low throughout the day.

A few clouds are in the forecast tonight, while temperatures settle into the lower to middle 60s, with a comfy night on tap.

Rain prospects will remain low through much of next week, as our atmosphere stays nice and stable. Expect mostly to partly sunny skies at times, along with afternoon highs in the middle 80s. Overnight lows will trend a bit warmer as they dip into the middle to upper 60s by mid week. It looks like we'll end the week with mainly dry weather and highs gradually working their way up into the upper 80s. Return to index of stories...

15 YEARS LATER --

"And we didn't."

A COMMUNITY ONCE AGAIN -- CAME TOGETHER TO REMEMBER, NOT ONLY THE VICTIMS OF COLUMBINE -- BUT THE JOURNEY FROM THAT TRAGIC DAY -- TO NOW.

"It's still sad but now we look more towards hope. How have we changed? how have we helped?"

CONI SANDERS -- LOST HER DAD -- COACH DAVE SANDERS.

"This is an honor to honor him, to be here to speak and to let people know we survived."

NOT ONLY DID SHE SURVIVE THE LOSS -- SHE'S HELPING OTHERS SURVIVE IT, TOO.

"We've learned to support people in their pain."

PEOPLE LIKE SANDY PHILLIPS.

"I think about my daughter everyday."

ONLY SANDY'S DAUGHTER JESSICA, WAS KILLED IN ANOTHER COLORADO MASS SHOOTING -- AT THE AURORA THEATER.

"It's very surreal to be here. People that two years ago I didn't know that are now very close friends and people I rely on."

THEIR LOSS -- BINDS THEM TOGETHER.

"They're family now."

AND TOGETHER -- THEY HAVE A MISSION.

"And it's sad to say there will always be tragedy. But if we can make that journey easier and lessen the number of tragedies we've succeeded."

IT'S THE REASON -- THE COMMUNITY KEEPS COMING BACK TO CLEMENT PARK YEAR AFTER YEAR.

"15 years ago. Columbine was a massacre. Columbine was a tragedy. Columbine was synonymous with death. Today we recognize that Columbine is a community."

THEY'VE TURNED THIS DAY FROM A TRAGEDY INTO A LEGACY BY LOOKING FOR HOPE -- AND EMBRACING VICTIMS OF OTHER TRAGEDIES, TOO, HELPING KEEP COLORADO STRONG.

WEATHER-WX CTR
