"A hot and more humid Sunday"

We had our first 90° day in Fort Myers yesterday, as the official high for the day was 91° at Page Field. As we head into Sunday, expect more moisture to return to the area with soaring temperatures once again.

Our morning will start off mild with readings in the upper 60s to lower 70s. For most, sunny skies will get the day going, while areas of fog will be possible across our inland spots and across Charlotte county. Sunshine will fill our skies throughout the late morning hours with a few clouds across our skies during the afternoon. Daytime highs will top out near 90°, with cooler readings at the coast and hotter temperatures deeper inland. The only difference today is a slight rain chance across our inland communities during the heat of the day.

Mostly clear skies will continue into the evening hours, with patchy fog possible by tomorrow morning. With more humidity, temperatures won't cool off as much and will settle into the lower 70s area wide.

Mostly to partly sunny skies will prevail through early next week. As afternoon temperatures top out in the upper 80s to lower 90s and the seabreeze moves inland, a few spotty showers will develop each afternoon. Temperatures will continue to run in the 80s, with overnight lows in the 60s. Rain prospects begin to increase by mid to late week with the approach of another cold front. POPE CANONIZATION-PKG

SCRIPT:

This is how saints are made and how history is written. Two living Popes

honoring two past popes.

NATS - MUSIC?

In a ceremony in Vatican City this morning steeped in tradition, Pope

Francis presided over the canonization of two of his predecessors: John Paul

II and John XXIII both elevated to sainthood in this, a ceremony that is

actually quite short and quite straightforward. It began with the hypnotic

Litany of Saints, the roll call of all the church's saints, each one

followed by the words "pray for us" said in Latin.

NATS -

As tradition dictates the Pope is asked three times to add the two men to

the list of saints. And then relics of the two men are brought to the alter,

physical remains of the new saints that the faithful can now venerate.

Watching it all: 150 cardinals, 700 bishops and a huge crowd of pilgrims in

St Peter's Square. Adding to the historic occasion, the ceremony is the

first time that the Pope Emeritus, Benedict, has public celebrated mass with

his successor.

KOFMAN OC CLOSE

This was very much Francis's moment elevating both a liberal and a

conservative: John XXIII. the modernizing Pope of 50 years ago who

dispensed with the Latin mass and John Paul II who reined in liberal

theologians and sexual freedoms. As Francis tries to unify a divided church

MAIN WEATHER-WX WALL
