STORMWARN FORECAST-WX CTR TO WX WALL

Another muggy start to Thursday morning here in Southwest Florida. As the day progresses, there is a less than 20% chance of storms rolling in from the gulf during the early morning hours. These will be few and far between and will quickly fizzle out once further inland.

This afternoon, thanks to TS Arthur, dry air is moving into our region as the storm lifts northward. That dry air works in our favor by helping reduce rain chances this afternoon. Calling it mostly sunny today and dry. However, it will still be very muggy out.

Expect highs to climb just slightly above average, around 93° in Ft. Myers and 88° in Naples.

Overnight this evening we stay completely dry with sticky conditions. Lows in the mid to upper 70s again.

Independence Day

A few coastal showers in the early morning will be possible again but most will be dry. TS Arthur continues on its northerly track and should be making near landfall, potentially as a category 1 hurricane, near the Outer Banks of North Carolina early Friday morning.

As far Southwest Florida goes, things are actually looking pretty good. We stay dry during the afternoon and hot. Highs in the low 90s. Dry after sunset during firework festivities. Overnight temperatures stay in the mid 70s.

Holiday Weekend

More summer like pattern returns for Saturday and Sunday. Rain chances and storm potential ramps up in the afternoon hours. The heat sticks around too. Area wide we look to stay in the low 90s for highs and mid 70s for lows.

Tropical Storm Arthur

Overnight, Arthur continued to strengthen. As of late Wednesday night the storm had a well defined eye wall, indicative of strengthening. Latest NHC update states the storm has maximum sustained winds of 70 mph and is moving north towards the Carolinas around 7 mph.

Tropical Storm & Hurricane Warnings are in place for some coastal areas of both North & South Carolina.

Arthur is expected to strengthen into a category 1 hurricane sometime Thursday and will like graze the central coast of North Carolina before moving toward the Cape Cod area of New England. Return to index of stories...

STORMWARN FORECAST-WX WALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS TH

E FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

FINAL WEATHER
