FIRST WEATHER-WX WALL

TUESDAY'S RAIN PROSPECTS

Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue moving across Southwest Florida this evening. Compliments of the cloud cover left over from storms early on Monday, temperatures in the afternoon were held at bay, only topping out in the 80s, well below what's considered seasonal.

Overnight tonight temperatures are expected to retreat into the low to mid 70s.

The weather setup for Tuesday looks a bit similar to Monday. Again we will have steering winds with a south and southwesterly component to them. Added to the fact that higher resolution forecast models place some showers in the Gulf of Mexico early on Tuesday, we'll need to account for the chance for some rain in the morning, mainly along the coastline.

As the afternoon progresses, the inland areas of the state should bear the greatest coverage of showers and thunderstorms. Toward Tuesday evening, it is a possibility that some showers or isolated storms could push a touch closer toward the US 41 corridor.

For the duration of the work week, a more typical July weather streak looks to get set up with late afternoon and evening showers and storms. Temperatures from Wednesday onward look seasonal in the afternoons topping out near 92 degrres. Return to index of stories...
