AIRLINE PASSENGER ARRESTED

Feds: Man said he'd blow up London-to-LA plane

LOS ANGELES - A federal criminal complaint says a passenger on a flight this week from London to Los Angeles threatened to kill flight attendants and blow up the plane.

The FBI says 20-year-old Kevin Lee Mosele of Hawaii was charged Tuesday with interfering with a flight crew. He could get 20 years in federal prison if convicted.

The complaint says Mosele told investigator's he'd had several drinks in London before boarding the plane.

It says he became agitated on the plane, spitting water on the crew and saying he'd kill them, then saying he was "going to set off a bomb."

The FBI says he had to be restrained and was arrested when the plane landed Monday for a layover in Los Angeles. It had been headed to Hawaii.

Mosele is free on a $10,000 bond. Return to index of stories...

FIRST WEATHER-2 SH PUSH OMNI

STORMS ARE MOVING INTO SOUTHWEST FLORIDA.

THANKS FOR JOINING US.

I'M ROB EVANS.

AND I'M AMY SEDLACEK.

WE CAN EXPECT DOWNPOURS IN CERTAIN AREAS FOR THE FIRST PART OF THE DAY.

YOU CAN SEE THE SHOWERS MOVE INLAND ON OUR STORM WARN SEVEN LIVE DOPPLER RADAR.

LET'S GO TO STORM WARN SEVEN METEORLOGIST ALLYSON RAE WHO IS TRACKING THE RAIN HEADING OUR WAY.

MORNING STORMS FOR THURSDAY

Onshore flow Thursday will trigger scattered storms to start the day. Showers and storms will continue through the first half of the day and begin tappering off during the late afternoon. With cloud cover in place for much of the day, temperatures will struggle to climb. Expect cooler temperatures than the averages Thursday. Calling it 87° in Ft. Myers & Naples this afternoon.

Cclouds thin out overnight and a hint of drier air sinks in place. Lows heading into Friday appear to be on par for the average. Low 70s area wide will be common with mid to upper 70s along the coastline.

Friday, dry air hangs around which will help reduce rain chances a bit. While chances for showers drop, there still is the chance for some isolated morning and afternoon pop up storms.

A typical summer pattern will be locked in for the weekend ahead. Expect a few isolated storms during the pre-dawn hours in the Gulf and afternoon showers inland both Saturday & Sunday. Highs both days will be hot and humid in the low 90s. Return to index of stories...

I think it is really crucial for our children for my daughter to see that

It's very important that moms take personal time so they can be better

BMW RECALL-OTS, VO

BMW IS EXPANDING A RECALL OF ITS MOST POPULAR MODELS TO FIX A PROBLEM WITH ITS AIRBAGS.

B-M-W IS RECALLING NEARLY ONE POINT SIX MILLION CARS MADE BETWEEN 2000 AND 2006.

THAT INCLUDES THE POPULAR THREE SERIES.

THE COMPANY SAID THAT THIS RECALL IS JUST A PRE-CAUTION.

THE AIRBAGS COULD RUPTURE AND WOULD NOT WORK DURING A CRASH.

BMW is expanding a recall of its most popular models to fix an air bag

problem that is hitting much of the global auto industry.

The German automaker says it will recall 1.6 million 3-Series cars from

model years 2000 to 2006 across the world, including 574,000 in the U.S.

The company said Wednesday that it's a precaution because other automakers

using similar systems have reported problems.

Air bag inflators in systems made by Takata Corp. can rupture. If that

happens, the bags might not work properly, and shards could fly out and

cause injury.

The problem is responsible for millions of recalled vehicles during the past

few years made by manufacturers such as Chrysler, Ford, Honda, Mazda,

Nissan and Toyota. The recalls have mostly been of vehicles in states with

hot and humid weather.

BMW said it has no reports of problems in its vehicles. Dealers will replace

the passenger-side front air bags. The new recall excludes 42,000 BMWs

recalled in May 2013 for the same problem. The company says it is recalling

all vehicles equipped with potentially faulty air bag systems regardless of

where they were sold.

In June, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began

investigating air bags made by Takata, a Tokyo-based supplier of seat belts,

air bags, steering wheels and other auto parts.

The agency said it received six reports of air bags rupturing in Florida and

Puerto Rico. Three people were injured in those cases. It had estimated 1.1

million vehicles in the U.S. could be affected, but the total is likely to

climb.

The government says it wanted to act quickly in warm states while it

continues to investigate the issue.

"Based on the limited data available at this time, NHTSA supports efforts by

automakers to address the immediate risk in areas that have consistently

hot, humid conditions over extended periods of time," the agency said in a

statement.

Takata has deferred recall questions to the auto companies and has said it

will support NHTSA's investigation of the problem and its customers with

technical analysis and replacement parts.

BMW GROUP IS RECALLING 1-POINT-6 MILLION OF ITS POPULAR 3 SERIES VEHICLES BASED ON CONCERNS OVER AIRBAG SAFETY.

LAST MONTH THE U.S. NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION SAID SEVEN AUTOMAKERS -- BMW, HONDA, NISSAN, TOYOTA, MAZDA, CHRYSLER AND FORD -- WOULD BE RECALLING VEHICLES TO FIX A POSSIBLE SAFETY DEFECT IN AIR BAG INFLATORS BUILT BY THE JAPANESE FIRM, TAKATA.

THOUSANDS OF GM VEHICLES HAVE ALSO BEEN RECALLED OVER SIMILAR TAKATA-BUILT AIRBAG PROBLEMS.

THE RECALL AFFECTS BMW CARS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN MID-1999 AND MID-2006. Return to index of stories...
