FIRST WEATHER-WX CTR

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

The dog days are upon us after most of Southwest Florida spent Saturday afternoon with temperatures as warm as the mid 90s.

We've got another scorcher on the way today with temperatures soaring well into the 90s; from Punta Gorda to Fort Myers, temperatures should peak between 94-96 degrees. For location like Bonita Springs and down to Naples, daytime highs will peak between 92-94 degrees. Golden Gate, Immokalee, Labelle and Palmdale: our temperatures could even reach the upper 90s.

What's more, the heat index will be around 100 degrees today once you factor in the high humidity levels. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids, and wear sunscreen if you're going to be outside for any extended period of time.

One change we'll notice today compared to yesterday is more storms on the radar by this afternoon. Today's storms should be fairly isolated, but don't be surprised if you see some dark skies setting in by the late afternoon and into the evening.

The highest rain chances today will be for areas along and east of I-75, but even our coastal zones could see a passing storm by this evening.

Moisture levels increase as we head into the upcoming week, so expect to see more clouds along with scattered showers and storms by Monday afternoon. This pattern looks to set in through Wednesday, keeping a decent chance for rain and storms in our forecast through mid week.

In the tropics, we're monitoring a few disorganized tropical waves in the open Atlantic, but conditions don't seem favorable enough yet for development in the immediate future. However, we'll need to watch this area a bit more closely toward the end of the month as this region gradually becomes more favorable for tropical development. Return to index of stories...

DAD DELIVERS BABY IN KITCHEN-ONCAM

A NEW YORK DAD EARNED SOME SERIOUS BRAGGING RIGHTS AFTER DELIVERING HIS BABY AT HOME.

JESSICA BORG REPORTS. Return to index of stories...

DAD DELIVERS BABY IN KITCHEN-PKG

THIS IS A PEACEFUL MOMENT FOR ONE HAPPY FAMILY.

BUT -- DELIVERING THIS BEAUTIFUL BABY GIRL HAPPENED IN A FEW SECONDS OF SHEER CHAOS.

"I'm still getting over the fact we had our baby in the kitchen."

That's because mom Erin went into full labor *very fast.

"I had no time to even process what was going on. It was just like instinct."

FOR DAD MICHAEL, TOO!

HE RUNS THIS BASEBALL ACADEMY IN FREEPORT.

THE COUPLE ACTUALLY HAD SENT OUT THIS GENDER REVEAL PHOTO TO FRIENDS -- LETTING THEM KNOW THEY WERE EXPECTING A GIRL.

AND WITH MICHAEL PRETENDING TO CATCH HER WITH HIS MITT.

WELL, IT CAME TRUE.

AND OH -- DID HIS CATCHING SKILLS COME IN HANDY ON THURSDAY.

"Thankfully, he didn't take up golf because that wouldn't have been in our favor -- hee, hee."

"The couple lives here in north Massapequa. At 5 in the morning, they were headed out the door to Stony Brook hospital so that Erin could be induced. But, the contractions started getting too strong and she told Michael to get ready for the baby."

"And she goes, I'm pushing, so I sprint over and it's almost like a dive and catcher. I slid on the floor and got under and wasn't sure what was coming out, because it couldn't have been a head. Not in our kitchen and sure enough it was Mia."

MIA WAS BORN 7 POUNDS, 9 OUNCES.

HER PARENTS WRAPPED HER UP IN DISH TOWELS UNTIL PARAMEDICS ARRIVED -- AND TOOK THEM TO NASSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER.

"We've had a couple of exciting experiences, but I have to say, this is the first kitchen."

BABY -- MOMMY AND DADDY ARE ALL NOW DOING GREAT.

THOUGH -- MICHAEL STILL CAN'T BELIEVE HOW HIS FIRST BABY MADE HER ENTRANCE TO THE WORLD.

"It's surreal. There's no other way to explain it, really."

THE FAMILY PLANS TO RETURN HOME WITHIN A DAY.

WEATHER-WX CTR

NATS

There were two ways to see it

on the screen blurry but close up

or by going outside and just looking up knowing that the moon you were

looking at just then had guys galavanting on its surface leaving footprints

.

Either way it was two overused terms both out of this world AND

unforgettable

As THESE voices are telling you now.

SOT:

Stephen Colbert: " I was 5 years old and my Mom swears she got me up and she

put me in front of the TV with my other 10 brothers and sisters."

John Travolta: Jumping in and out of the pool. Getting updates- I would say-

every 3-5 minutes. Did something happen? How close are they? Did they walk

yet?

.all people responding to a campaign by THIS guy

John Hanks: what a day it was

Buzz Aldrin the second man to set foot on the moon who wants to get people

to remember.

So the famous have been doing that.

And the not so famous. SOT: I was glued in front othe famliy TV.

It said that half a billion people came away with memories. That's how many

watched when you count say Berlin and Paris and Tokyo and New York

City

And Indiana. That's where Don Draper watched it.

SOT: scene.

Okay. Mad Men. That's fiction.

But here's the thing. It wasn't fiction. You how you know? Tonight, go

outside, look up. Look hard.

See? The footprints are still up there.
