TROPICAL STORM BERTHA BECOMING WEAKER AS IT EXITS PUERTO RICO

Tropical Storm Bertha is becoming weaker as it exits Puerto Rico and heads towards the Dominican Republic.

The 5 pm advisory from the National Hurricane Center shows sustained winds of 45 mph.

Bertha is becoming loosely organized as dry air is hampering further development.

The storm is located 90 miles east of Santo Domingo in the Dominican, with a minimum pressure of 1010 mb.

Bertha continues to move rapidly to the West-Northwest at 22 mph. The storm will continue to churn across eastern parts of the Dominican Republic tonight.

Tropical Storm Warnings continue for Puerto Rico, the eastern Dominican Republic, the Turks & Caicos Islands and parts of the Bahamas.

Tropical Storm Watches remain in effect for central sections of the Bahamas.

Bertha is expected to stay a very weak tropical storm as it impact the Dominican Republic over the next 24 hours. It will move across eastern parts of the Bahamas late Sunday into Monday.

If it survives past the Bahamas, it is forecasted to strengthen in the open waters of the Atlantic.

Forecast models still indicate the storm will stay well east of Florida, with it's closest pass to our area early Monday morning in the Bahamas.

You can track Bertha anytime with our NBC2 Interactive Hurricane Tracker: http:/www.nbc-2.com/category/170825/interactive-hurricane-tracker Return to index of stories...

CONSTRUCTION NATS

HammonD stadium is getting much more than a fresh coat of paint.

Construction crews are giving the park a face-lift!

The improvements will include expanded concourses, new sky boxes, improved concession stands and renovated restrooms.

The benches are being taken out and replaced with box seats.

A move that takes away from the capacity but will add comfort.

For the players --- expanded clubhouses.

The park with opened in 1991 has always brought an overwhelming amount of fans.

Miracle officials hope these improvements will bring more visitors to southwest florida.

Andrew Seymour, GM of the Miracle

03:12:20 "Definitely baseball is a lure in this market. Certainly

people will want to make the pilgrimage, it's new and we're hoping the

people will want to come here as I said and check it out one time and

our job again is to provide them a good time and hopefully they'll

come back again." 01:12:33
