FIRST WEATHER-WX WALL

Today's very active and wet weather pattern was enhanced with an area of low pressure above south Florida. This feature will continue to bring more downpours and thunderstorms tonight. Rainfall has been excessive today - over 6" in some Naples neighborhoods at the time of this writing - and I expect more downpours tonight. The rain showers should begin to taper off by midnight, but there could still be more showers washing in from the Gulf overnight and through tomorrow morning.

Temperatures will stay in the mid 70's this evening. It is highly likely that there will be more flooding in some places this evening and travel could be difficult tonight after sunset. Many roads and areas with poor drainage will be under water this evening.

Tomorrow's forecast looks better. We will still be under the threat of morning showers or thunderstorms as southwest winds set in for Tuesday. The afternoon threat for thunderstorms will be mainly inland tomorrow and high temperatures will top out around 90 as the clouds break-up in the afternoon. Return to index of stories...

SUPERFOODS-PKG

Broccoli sweet potatoes grapefruit Oh my !!!!

They're just a few of the items being touted as "superfoods"They may not

save the world, but experts say they may rescue your health.

SOT Deborah Roberts and Lisa Drayer

11:48:34

DR: Are there really super foods?

LD: There really is no formal definition for the term super foods but

basically the term implies the food is going to offer you super nutrition

and health benefits such as reducing the risk of disease improving your mood

and even helping with weight loss too

GFX - To make the "super" cut, the food has to pack enough punch to offer 10

% of your daily value that's 17 different nutrients

Topping the list of nutrition packed foods - romaine lettuce , red peppers

, Brussel sprouts and watercress

SOT Deborah Roberts and Lisa Drayer

11:52:01

LD: I was actually surprised that watercress ranked the highest / 11:52:

12 it was rich in beta carotene ,vitamin c ,folate ,potassium ,fiber and

many other nutrients as well

DR: watercress who knew !

GFX- But Fruits and veggies aren't the only foods elevated to super status

SOT Deborah Roberts and Lisa Drayer

11:56:43

DR: Now salmon that's a no brainer to me omega 3's right?

LD: exactly and we know omega 3's give skin benefit heart benefits

GFX - So how can you slip these foods into your everyday diet? Tip # 1: The

rainbow affect

SOT Deborah Roberts and Lisa Drayer

12:01:27

LD: If you look at the rainbow as a sort of variety of colors and you

include a lot of colors in your diet you're pretty much covering your basis

GFX -And Tip # 2 Don't be fooled by "superfood" marketing gimmicks

SOT Lauren Friedman / Health Reporter Business Insider

12:01:59 the term actually came out of nowhere it's a marketing term it's

not a medical term / 12:08:05 because "superfood" is meaningless anyone

can market their food as a superfood

SOT Deborah Roberts and Lisa Drayer

12:01:46

DR: So you have to kinda do your own research

12:01:53 LD: that's right you want to know which foods contain high levels

of certain nutrients

THERE'S NOTHING THERE NOW TO INDICATE THAT THIS WAS THE SCENE OF A DRIVE-BY SHOOTING.

BUT THE ADDRESS WILL POP UP OF YOU GO ON THE WEBSITE HOUSE CREEP.COM.

IT WAS STARTED BY A COUPLE OF BROTHERS - WHO HAD BEEN TRYING TO RESEARCH POTENTIAL HOMES FOR THEMSELVES.

I'm not the superstitious type but that being said would not be happy living in a property where something horrible has happened in the past.

STAND UP: THE WEBSITE HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR A YEAR AND ALREADY LISTS 20 THOUSAND HOMES AND APARTMENTS ACROSS NORTH AMERICA. A PROPERTY QUALIFIES FOR THE LIST IF A MURDER, SUICIDE OR ARSON TOOK PLACE HERE OR IF THE HOME WAS USED FOR NEFARIOUS ACTIVITIES SUCH AS A GROW OP OR METH LAB.

THE SERVICE IS FREE - USERS CAN ALSO SUBMIT INFORMATION ON HOMES TO THE SITE. 85 PROPERTIES MAKE THE LIST IN OTTAWA - 713 IN TORONTO - MORE THAN TWO THOUSAND IN CHICAGO.

OVER THE LAST FEW DAYS THE ISSUE HAS BEEN HOT ONE IN MEDIA - SO STEADY TRAFFIC IN PAST FEW DAYS BUT OUTSIDE OF THIS PRETTY STEADY TRAFFIC.

"Generally most people do want to know what the past history of a house has been."

REAL ESTATE AGENTS SAY THE WEBSITE'S INFORMATION CAN BE HELPFUL - BUT.

"I think as a caution for anyone using the site and taking the information off it would be to try and verify that information independently to make sure that its accurate."

AGENTS SAY IF THE INFORMATION IS ACCURATE, IT COULD ALSO SERVE AS A FACTOR IN NEGOTIATIONS. IT APPEARS, SOME BUYERS MAY BE ABLE TO LIVE WITH A FEW GHOSTS - IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT. Return to index of stories...

ACCORDING TO THE REPORT -- TOURISTS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES TEND TO STAY THE LONGEST AND SPEND THE MOST MONEY WHEN THEY COME TO THE STATE.

WEATHER-WXWALL
