Overnight, police in Ferguson again changed tactics.trying to keep a lower

profile. hiding tactical units.but peaceful demonstrations got out of

hand.

NATS

Officers drew their guns and made arrests.

SOT: THE AGITATORS, THE CRIMINALS EMBEDDED THEMSELVES AND HID BEHIND MEDIA.

THEY BEGAN THROWING BOTTLES, THEY THREW URINE ON OFFICERS AND THAT'S WHAT

CAUSED OFFICERS TO TAKE ACTION AND AGAIN MAKE ARRESTS.

And outside Ferguson, yesterday afternoon

NATS

-- there was this angry demonstration.after *another* police shooting.

Officers in St. Louis shot and killed a 23-year-old black man they say was

coming at them waiving a knife.

SOT: OFFICER SAFETY IS NUMBER ONE ISSUE. IF SOMEBODY APPROACHES YOU WITH

KNIFE, YOU HAVE RIGHT TO DEFEND YOURSELF AND PROTECT YOURSELF

Today, Attorney General Eric Holder travels to Ferguson to meet with

community leaders and check on the investigation into the police shooting of

18-year-old Michael Brown.

Local authorities interviewed the officer who shot and killed Brown, Darren

Wilson and a grand jury will likely start hearing evidence today.

Officer Wilson's good friend, who asked that we conceal his identity, is now

speaking out.

SOT; DARREN'S A GOOD PERSON AND PEOPLE HAVE IMMEDIATEDLY LABELED HIM AS A

COLD BLOODED MURDERER AND THAT'S NOT THE TYPE OF PERSON HE IS.

It's not clear how long it will take to determine whether Wilson will be

charged. Return to index of stories...

HOT WITH LIMITED RAIN CHANCES

Our Wednesday morning is off to a warm start. Our rainfall chances will be isolated once again today. Coverage of any pop-up showers or thunderstorms will be less than 20% of the region. A few isolated downpours or storms could certainly develop in the afternoon or evening, but the majority of the area should remain unseasonably dry for mid August. This same, relatively dry pattern will continue for the next few days.

Temperatures will be hotter than normal again today. Highs are expected to soar into the low 90s along the coast to mid 90s along the US41 and I-75 corridors. The hot weather sticks around through the end of the week.

TROPICAL UPDATE

A tropical wave over the Atlantic is showing some signs of possible organization. The National Hurricane Center has pegged the feature with a 30% chance of developing in the next two days and a 50% chance for development in the next 5 days. Environmental conditions remain a bit unfavorable for considerable development but the wave will be closely monitored as it approaches the Caribbean. Return to index of stories...

530AM~STORMWARN FORECAST-WX CTR TO WX WALL
