FIRST WEATHER-WX WALL

MORE HEAT AHEAD

It was another very hot day Wednesday across Southwest Florida, with just a scattering of thunderstorms developing. The storms will diminish quickly this evening, as temps only fall into the 80s. Expect another very warm overnight, with lows in the upper 70s.

More mainly dry and very hot weather is ahead on Thursday. Again, just isolated to widely scattered showers and storms are expected in the PM hours. Highs again will soar into the mid 90s, with heat indices in the afternoon well above 100.

The dry air remains in place for Friday. A few PM storms will again develop, but most areas will stay dry. Highs on Friday will be in the mid 90s.

The weekend will bring some changes. More moisture will work in starting Saturday, with a slightly better chance for afternoon showers and storms. Highs on Saturday will be in the mid 90s.

Even better rain and storm chances arrive for Sunday, with highs in the low to mid 90s.

Next week does look to bring a much better chance of showers and storms, especially Monday and Tuesday. Temps look to cool into the upper 80s to low 90s.

TROPICAL UPDATE

We are still keeping an eye on a large tropical wave near the Lesser Antilles. The system is still loosely organized, but may strengthen over the next 1-2 days.

The National Hurricane Center is giving the system a 60 percent chance of development over the next 5 days. It will move across the Lesser Antilles and enter the Caribbean Sea over the next few days.

It is too early to tell whether this system will have an impact on our weather here in Florida.

Elsewhere, no major activity is expected over the next 5 days. Return to index of stories...
