BONNIE SABEN IS BUNDLED UP.

BUT SHE'S NOT EVEN PLANNING ON GOING OUTSIDE.

SHE'S WEARING ALL OF THIS. BECAUSE OF HOW COLD IT IS IN HER HOME.

BONNIE

14:21

How cold it feels in here? I don't know, aren't you cold. It's so cold my hands are numb.:28 tz

SABEN LOST HER ROOF DURING HURRICANE IRMA.

A VOLUNTEER GROUP PUT TARPS ON. BUT THEY HAVE BLOWN OFF.

FROM INSIDE HER HOME. YOU CAN SEE THE SKY.

WHICH MEANS INSIDE IS THE SAME TEMPERATURE AS IT IS OUTSIDE.

Bonnie Saben

13:56

Depressed. I mean really how would you feel? I don't know. I just gotta find a place to go or do something. 14:07

SABEN HAS SET UP A BED ON THE COUCH. BECAUSE HER BEDROOM IS EVEN COLDER.

AFTER ALL THE MONEY SHE HAD TO PAY AFTER IRMA.

SHE CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX HER ROOF-- HER AC UNIT. OR HER HOT WATER HEATER.

SHE'S HAD THE FLU. AND PNEUMONIA.

BONNIE

I've got no money so I'm going to stay here. That's all.:58 tz

MANY OF HER NEIGHBORS ARE IN THE SAME SITUATION.

IT COSTS A LOT MORE TO HEAT A HOME WITHOUT A ROOF.

JOHN STETLER'S ROOF WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED THIS WEEK. BUT THE ROOFERS POSTPONED THE WORK BECAUSE OF THE HIGH WINDS.

STETLER

Just pay extra to fpl for electricity. That's all you can do.:50 tz

SABEN SAYS SHE HASN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH FEMA.

t's going to be another cold night tonight across SWFL--even slightly colder than last night! Skies will stay clear, and with winds turning fairly light and very dry air still in place, temperatures will once again plummet toward if not below the freezing point. Lows will range from the mid 30s along the coast and the Urban Corridor to the low 30s and upper 20s inland.

With sub-freezing temperatures expected, a the NWS has issued a ***Freeze Warning** for the following areas, in effect late tonight through early Friday:

-Desoto County

-Glades County

-Hendry County

-Inland Collier County

A Freeze Warning means that temperatures are expected to fall to or below the freezing point. If you are in the warned area, be sure to protect your plants tonight, and bring pets indoors.

Friday will be another chilly day all around once again. Despite clear and sunny skies, temperatures will struggle to escape the 50s. This will be followed up by another cold night, with lows in the upper 30s near the coast and the middle and lower 30s inland.

A warming trend will take hold as we head into the weekend. Saturday will still be chilly, with highs in the middle 60s, followed by overnight lows in the upper 30s and low 40s. By Sunday temperatures will bounce back into the 70s--with even warmer weather expected as we track into the upcoming work week. Return to index of stories...
