REDUCING 41-LIVE

US-41 HERE NEAR DOWNTOWN NAPLES IS VERY BUSY FOR TRAFFIC.

BUT IT'S ALSO AN AREA THAT SOME SAY COULD USE SOME PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLIST FRIENDLY IMPROVEMENTS. Return to index of stories...

REDUCING 41-PKG

SEASON IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA MEANS TRAFFIC.

US-41 near downtown Naples is no exception.

2855 as it is during the season it's pretty bad anyhow even during the day it's backed up now

there's an idea brewing to remove 2 of the 6 lanes of traffic on US 41. roughly in this area. from 7th avenue north to 5th avenue south.

2040 the point is to give people an alternative way to move around downtown

There's a Downtown Naples Mobility & Connectivity study that's been in the works to figure out how to better connect the bustling downtown areas of Naples.

Some say to do that. the city needs to make getting around on foot or bike in this area of downtown MORE OF A PRIORITY.

2240 the sidewalk is right next to the street people are going 45, 50 miles an hour and people don't feel safe

2850 I wouldn't be for the idea I think traffic would get terribly backed up around here

3320 it's getting worse and worse every year, and to eliminate one lane I think it's going to be a disaster

Those working on the connectivity study say that shouldn't be a problem.

2210 it won't make them go slower it will make them go 30 miles an hour instead of 45 or 50 which adds to the amount of danger there is when crossing that street Return to index of stories...

REDUCING 41-LIVE

US-41 is a state highway.

So how would the city be able to change it?

Well. the Florida Department of Transportation is already working on a stormwater improvement project on this chunk of 41. so they plan to tear it up in the next 5 years anyway.

So FDOT gave the City of Naples the opportunity to redesign what gets replaced.

Reporting live in Naples AS ABC7. Return to index of stories...
